The bare minimum for spd<agl or spd=agl would have to be like 80/80, (in any pro or AAA, I guess). You're just gonna get fucked repeatedly with not enough speed. I'd take 90/70 over 80/80 any day though. Maybe change to 80/80 if you play CB3 and expect a lot of WR screens.

I agree, 90/70 is about where you want to be.
I think there are too many people out there that feel that their CBs must match a WR point for point in Speed, when that really isn't true at all.
In my opinion, CBs have to be much more well-rounded than most positions out there, which is why I really don't think getting Speed up to the third and fourth caps is a smart play.
CBs really need to have a very nice blend of Speed, Agility, Vision, Jumping, Catching, Super Vision, Shutdown Coverage and Change Direction to truly be a shutdown guy. This is basically because Bort has manipulated the WR/CB battle so much, so that CBs can have 20-30 less Speed than the WR, and still not worry about getting beat over the top, as long as they have the other attributes that I mentioned.

I agree... about 62 basic speed is enough for every corner. For the deep balls... you have help over the top (i hope so). Everything after 40 yards should be a job for a FS imo. Also, a high level of jumping make up for a little bit of distanse between you and the WR.
in the shoerter routes.. you on your own. so you need to stick to your man like glue.. and what better that max agi and vision. Also jumping is an important stat. I prefer agi over speed and think vision and jumping are more important than a lot of people think.

Sooooo true, I used to think this was a great build, until I did more experimenting and research, I realized that this is a bad build.
In the beginning of the season, I had all his equip in speed, and his attributes were:
80.06 speed
56.06 agility
I kept noticing this problem:
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=332469&pbp_id=10506983
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=332464&pbp_id=9751051
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=332453&pbp_id=9012516
These were the only passes my CB would let up, he would over persue the route and end up outrunning the WR and not having the change of direction speed to come back to the ball. This isn't a problem for the WR though, because he always has a step or two on the CB because he knows where he is going at all times essentially.
I'm not so sure that that isn't an issue with passing or cornerback tactics, as my CB gives up the same passes despite having speed/agility/vision within a point or two of each other:
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=339824&pbp_id=13046328
Tactics in this example were close/semi-aggressive.

No VAs, he is lvl 24.
Another example from today:
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=369980&pbp_id=14421846
It really is random how the CBs always run away from the receiver on passes where they go back toward the QB.

I think you have to go by how often it happens, since there are at least 3 ways this can happen: 1) pump fake, 2) fake by WR, and 3) normal cut by WR that CB doesn't have the agility to stay with him on....That play was either 1) or 2)....Only thing that can help here (I would guess is more vision...after all while you are upping vision the QB is upping pump fake and the WR is upping agility and SAs to improve his fakes) I'd guess 1) for no good reason...I think that Virgin Goldstandard is talking about case 3...
