I believe it's really under appreciated by receivers. I also believe strength will play a factor when trying to catch the ball with a defender on you. I have no hard evidence as most of what we say is just off of what we see or think we do.

So far this year 87 rec and zero drops.

Catching 62.28
Jumping 47.53
Confidence 48.63
Strength 27.27

It's not confidence.

A few drops have been in the wide open going deep, those are the ones that are hard to see happen. I think confidence may make a difference.

Actually the QB could have a lot to do with it. Are the other receivers on the team dropping passes too?

Exactly... I wasn't joking

If he has decent vision/catching/jumping... then the receiver might drop the ball simply because it was a bad pass

Could be the QB, but it's not confidence. I'm reiterating because someone might actually raise their confidence to combat drops, and they'd later hate themselves for it.

If you believe that confidence has no effect on drops I have to disagree.

pass quality tends to go down with deep balls... confidence is not the answer

Jumping and catching will minimize these but it will still happen

However if your jumping and catching are really high then your speed and agility probably isn't. So you will be less likely to be downfield wide open on a streak.

its because of the high catching and almost capped jumping.. take away 20 points of the confidence and you would see almost if not exactly the same results

lmao! no way man. WRs and confidence are HUGE. That is a completely unfounded statement and nobody in the world should listen to it. Stop spreading bad information and get out of the forums.

Just what the WR forums needed, another nub troll who has no idea what he is talking about. Come back when you can offer some substantive proof or your outrageous claims of confidence.

This WR had 2 drops in Season 6, with approx 25 Confidence:
http://goallineblitz.com/game/full_player_stats.pl?player_id=494049&playoffs=0

He has 3 drops this year, with 37 confidence, which I've been training all season.

It's not the end-all-be-all of evidence, but I've noticed no change in drops while training Confidence.

The main thing that Confidence does, which I've noticed with players that have less than 20, is make you much more likely to have multiple drops in a single game. But once Confidence goes past 20 or so, it becomes much less likely to have multiple drop games.

Honestly, Jumping and Vision (and of course Catching) seem to be the primary culprits for drop issues, with confidence being much, much lower down the list.

I will report what we did as a team: (Definitive proof? probably not, but it worked for us)
Our top 3 WRs had Confidence around 30 last season, and all of them brought their Confidence up to ~40.
Last season we had 142 catches and 24 drops by our top 3 WRs.
This season we had 143 catches and 5 drops by our top 3 WRs.

Our team is ranked in the 28-30ish in the whole conference across the board except the awesome punter we have, but we had 10 dropped passes all season by everyone who attempted to catch a pass. (Out of 513 attempts all season)

Our #1 QB completed only 46% of his passes, because everyone knew we could not run to save our lives.
We do not have a prolific anything because we are so outleveled by our competition.

We were regularly hammered game after game in the SEA Pro, but we did not get the dropsies as a result.
I would say our drops were fixed, now if we could stop all those DAMN PDs!

I will most likely train jumping and vision, but I'm going to get my confidence to 30 and see it makes a difference for next year.

Does any have their confidence over 40 and how were their drops?
