I have a lvl 38 DE with 97 speed, and 80 agility with 63 strength that hasn't gotten a sack yet this season. He is playing against OT's that are his level or below, so I'm not really sure what the issue is. Something has definitely changed this season.... Last year he played back up on a team in a higher league against OT's that outleveled him by on average 5 levels and got close to 10 sacks.

How much first step do you have? I've beeen hearing good things about DEs with high speed and high first step.

Not sure where to go...

My lvl 35 DE has 105 agility, 70 speed...6 sacks thus far this season...but 4 were against gutted teams. He is completely dominated against equal or greater leveled OTs.

We have one DE who is having ok success...25 sacks...but 22 of those were against gutteds. He is a very balanced build with very high pass rush SAs. So the SAs seem to be a nice boost against inferior competition but do not help much vs equal competition.

I just think DEs are sort of screwed this year...the nerf to slow down the best DEs really gives the average DEs no chance. Kind of all or nothing. DEs are no longer a glamour position.

My level 34 DE leads our BBB league in sacks and hurries, entirely due to strength of schedule.

Here is the only meaningful game so far:
http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=333694

No sacks, no hurries and I had 8 levels on the LOT I lined up against. He didn't have any pancakes against me even though I was double teamed quite a bit.

The DT that lines up next to me is level 33 and did manage a TFL against a Guard that is six levels lower.

So on that side we had a combined +14 levels against them, yet managed to do nothing.

I started to see more success once I "stacked" one side, I placed the lower level DT in the NT slot due to his higher General SA and put the level 33 guy next to me hoping to draw a double team to free at least one of us up or open a hole for the ROLB who has 80+ in speed.

Today is our 2nd "meaningful" game and I'll post that after it sim's in an hour.

ChicagoTRS said it best, I think this season is lost for DE's and we just have to take it.

Yup being a DE sucks this year.
You almost want to put all your points into str and shed block to see if a more dt like build works...

Tough loss for our guys, drove it to the 5 and got held out.

Again DE had 9 levels on the LOT and the DT had 8 levels on the LG.

Haven't had a chance to watch the game yet but the DT did manage one sack and one hurry. I'll edit this post after I've had a better chance to review.

maybe this is true, my DE has been getting good pressure all season (though most of his sacks are against gutted/cpu teams) and he's only 6 foot and 249 lbs. 80+ agility and 60+ spd, maybe his small size is helping get off those blocks

Maybe it's just that DE owners have to take size into account when deciding how to build them now.

My level 43 DE has 70 str, 65 spd, 105 agi & 50 vision and has 0 sacks against non-gutted teams. Pretty much worthless on passing plays right now.

this is why season 7 is a lost season for DEs.

this is pretty much the build we were all targeting for when we got 40+ (or switch the agi and spd...either one) and now if our goal build is so ineffective that he can't pass rush, well then, we're all euchred.

and now, we're so far into our target build that it's too late to reverse course.

I still don't think things are that bad, it's not like you're going to play any better as a lead-footed power lifter, those guys don't get near the ball unless the carrier runs into their arms.

I hope everyone who's freaking out goes str with their DEs so those damn Otackles will get knocked on their asses and quit putting the points into agl.
