I can say that without a doubt my speed guy is getting slaughtered this season....and it's not as if he doesn't have 53 jumping and 61 catching....so he's not just a speedster but 100+ speed and 70+ agility is doing jack for him.

Yep, just look at a speedsters lifetime stats. In previous years you'll see a steady rise in each category, this year you'll notice a big step down.

I know GLB does not equal the NFL, but speedsters in real life don't really play very well either. You'll never truly be able to consistently burn CBs, most catches will be attempted in tight coverage. So I think it would be better to sacrifice some speed and agility for catching and jumping.

Think about Randy Moss, what's more integral to his game, his speed/agility or his catching/jumping?
Personally I'd say the latter.

I'd say speed and agility. Every game I've watched he beats people with his speed and agility. Just watch the Bears game when he was on the Vikings where he gets two hands on a jump ball and Charles Tillman takes it away from him in the endzone. Having to catch in traffic or go for a contested ball opens him up to being hit and he doesn't like contact.

Viscount, yup...that's the direction I'm taking my guy.

What I'm beginning to realize is that you have to catch the ball first...and that it doesn't matter if you have 90 speed or 100 speed, your aren't getting separation from the CB. On top of that, even if you have 85 speed, if that 100 speed CB stutters for a step (pump fake, head fake, whatever)....you are beating him deep.

absolutely not. He beats up every corner with his jumping and catching. If you don't notice Moss is always covered even on fly's or streaks then you are retarded. sorry just saying.

My speed guy (~102 speed, 70 agility, 60 catching, 30 strength) is doing nothing close to last year. He's in a fairly low level league so it's hard to accurately gauge, but in one game against close level players (lvl 38 and 37 CBs) he had two catches for under 30 yards. Obviously he's still getting a ton of yards and touchdowns against the low level and gutted teams.

Exactly. Here's Randy Moss' Top 10 catches of 2007, in my opinion only 2 of them are of him burning the D:

Randy Moss is a speed guy, take away his speed and he wouldn't have any production with just his height. Take away his height and leave his speed and he would still be productive. In my opinion every single play that Tom Brady winds up and launches the ball the length of the field when Moss in behind all 11 defenders is due to speed.

Moss is not a possession guy, he is a speedster. He only has excelled when he has Daunte or Brady (both MVP QBs) throwing the ball on deep routes so he can get TDs with his speed.

This play is the epitome of how soft Randy Moss is:

With 1 minute remaining with his team behind, the ball is put into both his hands in the endzone for a potential game winning TD and a rookie CB out wills him for it.

I think what we can take away from this Moss discussion....

the best WRs are fast, agile, can jump and catch like no one else. Put it all in one player and you'll slay.

Plus they are strong, can block, and are confident in themselves.

This is what makes Andre Johnson so special.

My WR has 95 speed and around 65 agi and average about 20 yards every carry and 100 yards every game with the occasional lucky 50-90 yard TD in a SA AAA league just
