I like the idea of an invitational even though that means my team may not got in. But it would add to the prestige.

I would like that teams who have been in previous years and made it so far get an automatic entry.

if you do invitational, I'd be willing to set up a private forum and any committee members could have discussions about who to invite there.

I think you should do invitational... if a few teams refuse you open their position for sign ups...

And also, if you need any help whatsoever if you do decide to make it an invitational, feel free to PM me.
The best run tourney in all of GLB is right here, and you take any steps you deem necessary to keep it that way.

I'll probably invite 32 teams and then have the others sign-up.

I know it may be a pain, but why not extend it one more round, and include 128 teams. The 64 that are in this years, and then 64 invites.

It is your time and headache, but it is the biggest and best run tourney in GLB.

That's not a terrible idea - and have the 64 that aren't invites play the 64 invites in the first round. If you win against an invitee, you are automatically invited the next season.

I'll change it to 128 teams. Getting a committee together now. will do 64 invitations and 64 sign-ups. maybe not automatically invited though

Wow 128 is going to be massive. I haven't followed this in the past, but will there be enough time for the extra round to get matched up? 7 rounds leaves only 5ish days per round, and I know many would like to finish this up in the regular season (day 32) so they don't have to gameplan for the semifinals of this one alongside a playoff game. I'd keep it at 64 and invite 32 with signups filling the last 32+whoever declines on the invite list.

But hey, who am I to tell you how to run your tournament?

I'd just let as many teams sign up as possible, and then pick out the best 64/128/however many teams. The committee idea is good, but we need to get an indication of who wants to sign up, then choose the teams.

I can't add anything to what's been said. I won't second guess your judgment, whichever way you end up going.

Masons have been happy to have been a part of the tourney so far.
