Since WRs make cuts on every route except a streak, it seems like the first step would be a bit self defeating for most WR routes?

I'd love to here someone's view on this, whether or not their WR has high first step.

I'll be using +3 FS, +3 speed equipment on my WR after I upgrade it (to that) tomorrow. My WR has been a deep threat in the past, so this should improve his chances. If you want to run good routes, get high agility. You don't need the SA to have guaranteed success making ins, outs, posts, curls, etc.

Hmm I dont know if I understood it clearly but here's how the concept of diminishing returns would work... let's take Route Run as an example (I will use fixed bonuses in my example, but I think that there's still a debate about whether the bonuses from RR are fixed or are a % of the player's base spd/agi)

So with diminishing returns, the effects of RR at each level would be something like:

Level 1 RR: +10 bonus to speed and agility when running a route (+10 increase from previous level, 0)
Level 2 RR: +18 bonus (+8 increase)
Level 3 RR: +24 bonus(+6 increase)
Level 4 RR: +28 (+4 increase)

So the concept of diminishing returns would mean that each time you increase the level of a SA, the bonus given by the SA increases. But, the higher the SA level, the smaller the bonus' increase will be.

I do not think that is correct. My guess on SAs is something like this...Route Run as the example:
L1: +1% bonus to speed/agility
L2: +2% bonus to speed/agility
L3: +3% bonus to speed/agility
etc...
L10: +10% bonus to speed/agility
L11: +10.5% bonus to speed/agility
L12: +11% bonus to speed/agility

Bonuses from L1 to L10 are linear...anything aboove L10 does not give as large a bonus. I think we can be pretty certain that SAs over 10 are diminished as Bort has stated on more than one occasion that the returns on SAs over 10 are nerfed.

Route Run is an interesting SA...it is in the possession tree but if you read the description it seems like it would be great for any receiver. I would guess most receivers are running routes pretty much at all times and anything that gives a boost to speed and agility is great. I would guess you lose the bonuses once you make the catch but again anything that gives a receiver a boost to speed/agility would seem ultra valuable. I would rank it the 3rd best WR SA behind first step and quick cut. I plan on spending SPs on it at some point.

I have AE gear in FS but have not spent points on it yet...but eventually will take it to 10. A lot of the better speed WR builds I have seen do have high first step. Allows the WR to get a good jump off the line and get good acceleration after the catch...I think it is a very valuable SA for a speed based receiver.

I have FS up to 6. You will definitely notice a difference in your speed off the line when you start putting points in it. QC is still more important though.
