All micro brews (well, 95% of them) are fine.

Amen to that, fresh beer is the best beer.Still, I can't stand those milk stouts that brew masters seem so fond of concocting. There's one in town that has a stout that tastes like a Snicker's bar and he's proud of it !...yech.

Best beer brand is actually made by the Brit's

Samuel Smith:

Oatmeal Stout, Imperial Stout and my favorite the Lager.

The others they make are good too, but these are tops.

wow strong lack of knowledge of good beer.

lol fail.
Im from Belgium and we are legally able to drink at 16 but we are also never ID checked so most people drink their first beers a lot younger than that.
Im 22 now so unless you are at least 28 and havent tried at least a couple hundred different kinds of beer then it is safe to say that your opinion means a lot less than mine.

depends which one
The 10 is easily one of the best beers i have ever had. Its impossible for me to make a numbered top 20 or 50 of all the beers ive tried so far because there are too many variables to account for but it is definitely in there somewhere.

My mini list were just a couple of the better known and/or easy to find belgian beers by the way. All of those can fairly easily be found in the US although you will have to buy the Westvleteren on ebay.

there are several american breweries that make good belgian style ales.....ommegang in new york, allagash in maine, and the previously mentioned new belgium in colorado. la folie is rare and i've not yet had it but all the reviews i've heard are outstanding. however if it comes down to delicious IPA's you cant beat the west coast. tons of hoppiness from san diego to oregon.......stone, lost abbey, deschutes, hair of the dog, port, coronado, karl strauss, russian river. i'm lucky to live in LA and have access to all of these on a regular basis. however LA is a wasteland when it comes to good breweries. a dream of mine is to start a brewery in LA (and maybe a distillery also).

cheers!

for what its worth, Desperados is the greatest beer ever. Despite its name its a french beer with alittle tequila. Stick a slice of lime in it and its the business

I just drive over to the brewery and pick up the La Folie whenever they have it available.

Yep ,Ommegang brews some nice beers ,so nice that Duval bought the brewery.Plus it has the added bonus of being just down the road from the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, makes for a nice visit every time I go there!
Here in Cleveland we've got Great Lakes Brewing a first class brew pub but also a medium sized production facility.Their flagship is the Dortmunder Gold,my personal favorite is the Edmund Fitzgerald porter, but it's all good and unpasteurized.

American Made Belgian Beers are awesome - See New Belgian Brewery, Ft Collins, CO... They make an aged Sour Brown, 'La Folie' that's an amazing beer. Aged for three years in old, oak wine casks they bought from a winery in California. Sublime.

And their more traditional Belgian brews are top notch as well.

Top it all off they are an employee run company, great corporate behaviour. They recently voted to forego raises and bonuses one year and shifted the facility to wind power. They are also very linked in with the local Ag University and are re-using waste products from the brewing process to sponsor fish farming and other nifty things. They buy all their employees a 'fat tire' bicycle after they've been with the company a year and after five years they send them on a two week vacation to Belgium for a bike/beer tour.

Awesome stuff!

+1 I've very recently run into a new favorite of mine, the New Belgium 1554 Enlightened Black Ale. While not a huge fan of Fat Tire, I'm definitely a fan of the brewery. Beyond that, a few favs are Shiner Bock, Shiner Black Lager, Pyramid Hefe, Negra Modelo, Dos Equis Amber is ok.....seeing a trend?

EDIT: I think it's worth mentioning that it's tough to find a ton of exotic beers around here. Every bar/pub/liquor store is filled with Bud Light, Coors Light (or Cuuurs, if you will), Miller Light...buhhh. There's a huge bar in downtown Houston with a nice selection...a nice Wall O' Beer.
