So, the way I see it for FS, the best abilities in order are probably...

1. Zone Specialist (if your team runs Cover zones) for an essentially permanent 15% boost to speed, agility, and vision on defense.
2a. Track Star - 15% BASE speed boost.
2b. Football Genius - 15% BASE vision boost.
3. Red Zone Freak - 75% chance for a 5% boost to all stats in the Red Zone. Very good, but IMO, not nearly as valuable as the first 3 skills.
4. Swagger - 15% BASE confidence boost.
5. Heart of a Champion - Great skill, but sadly, not everyone is a consistent playoff contender.

My FS is a backup but almost always make the tackle on PRs. I decided to load up on Power Tackler for some more forced fumbles.

the bottom left one about tackling....sure tackler or something, could come in handy, id give it 5b status (75% chance (at lvl 15) to reroll a missed tackle i think...nice)

I mean, if ur a FS and care about that sort of thing...

Is Swagger better than Quick (15% base agility)? It looks like confidence has a more prominent role with the latest round of upgrades but I don't know whether it's more important for FS than agility.

I'm seriously thinking about using next season's boosts to get my SS up to 50 str so I can get the Jackhammer ability. It would be great for defending against passes to the TE, especially since his speed is so high that he's almost always near the ball if it's thrown to his side of the field.

Long Reach looks good for the same reasons as Jackhammer.

Track Star, Quick and Football Genius are the ability attributes I'm most interested, though confab has an interesting point about Swagger if confidence plays a larger role in the new updates.

Not too keen on using veteran abilities on stats considering there're bunches of other bonuses that are otherwise unobtainable. Just my opinion, though.

Bort said Zone Spec only works while you're in pass coverage in zone. He specifically stated that the moment you begin to chase, or break after a runner, the bonuses vanish. Becomes much less enticing.

5% stat bonus from Red Zone Freak doesn't feel especially sizeable :/

I went with +10 in clutch. Being fast enough to cover plenty of ground already I figured it would be the best option.

Clutch, long reach, sure tackler all seem pretty good

If your team plays your FS at primarily zone defense, then pumping a ton into zone specialist could work out really really well.

I'm going with mass clutch as well, UD, and I'd be lying if I said the big X-factor of it wasn't attractive Excitement! At the FS position! Unheard of!

Has Bort said what clutch actually does? All it says is that it is a boost, but not to what.

I'm re-ordering my top 5, I made a post about it last night, but the site went down. ><

Ok, a new top 5 list for FS, feel free to attack it, I want a fair consensus...

1. Track Star - Speed is normally our highest base stat, this gives a 15% boost to it. Say you have 80 BASE speed, that is a 12 point bump, which is roughly 36 attribute points and you only spent 15 veteran points. Also, it makes all additional speed worth 1.15 points rather than just 1.

2. Sure Tackler - You are normally the last line of defense at FS. If you miss, the guy is normally gone. This gives a 2nd chance. Although I normally don't miss many tackles, the few times I have caused big plays, so this is a big bonus.

3a and 3b. Quick/Football Genius - Normally your next two stats and very important. For a breakdown, see Track Star.

5. Long Reach - A 2nd chance at all pass deflections. Very nice, but not as good as Sure Tackler.

* Variable - Clutch - This can be any where from first to worst depending on the boost. There are no details about this skill other than that it is a boost. If it is a chance at say a 2% boost to all attributes, it is a definite pass. If it is 5% or more, I'll definitely consider it. Either way, until we get word, no one knows.

* Variable - Sure Hands - If this applies to interceptions, this is could be big. A 2nd chance at all interceptions would be a very nice bonus.

Yeah but heart of a champion is only in the playoffs.
