So true. When I saw the thread title I was like Hines Ward and Wes Welker are known for two completely different things.

TJ Housh and Welker go together nicely though. That's actually what I'm aiming for in my brand spanking new WR. Probably gonna end up being a retard though since I have to sacrifice vision for a long time.

Or you may find out that vision isn't that important for WRs.

my possesion receiver saw his best season yardage and TD wise this past season (his 5th season) but that was only after I finally got around to putting points in speed.

I was going for a posession build with my WR as well. He FINALLY had a good season last year... after I switched all his equipment into speed to get him up to 85... *rolleyes*

I'm starting to agree that posession builds just don't work in GLB, speed is just too important. By the time you get speed high enough to compete you don't have a posession build any more...

I think you are looking at it wrong...85 speed IS a possession build wide receiver. 100+ is a speed receiver.

my guy is still only at 62 speed so I guess he still qualifies as a possession receiver.

Hmmm, I'm half assedly trying to turn my current WR into something Hines Ward-ish but it's... I don't know. Just seems like it'll never happen. Right now I have AGI double capped and speed triple capped. Catching first capped. My vision still blows but I guess want to get both of those double capped. Strength and jumping are sitting around 40.

Not a very impressive WR yet though.

Based on your 39/42/42 scouting bars there's absolutely no way you have those stats. One of my WRs basically has though stats and his scouting bars are 39/51/54:

Strength lowers WR bars.

Your joking right?

Meh! Finally moved my WRs speed up to 60 just for kicks. Now have two 60 speed WR on the team.

Possession receivers can definitely be done. You still have to start with speed/agility first imo, because without at least adequate speed/agi it's just not possible to be an effective WR. High agility, catching, jumping, and vision is what you're looking for.

Exactly, because you have to get open to get the throw and to have a chance of making the catch.

experiment

This WRs bars are at 12 overall, 12 receiving and 18 carry w/o any points. Now I am adding 15 into strength.

nothing happened to the bars. Strength does not make the bars worse. i will also level the WR a couple times to see how much strength it takes to make the carry bar go up.

I created my possession/balanced WR in Season 2. At the end of the season, I seriously contemplated retiring him. And after season 3... and season 4. Finally, by season 5, I was content with him. Then, in season 6, I was actually happy.

Possession WRs take a long time, but they're totally worth it. Both the WRs in the WR1 slot on my team are possession WRs - the backup is mine.

Speed is important for PWRs (I can't type out possession anymore) for one reason, and it's not separation: in order to run your routes in a timely fashion. If you're slow in running your routes, you probably won't see the ball too often, depending on your team and your OC. Pushing Speed to the first cap should be done immediately, and then probably not touched for a very long time. Also, about 1/3 to 1/2 of equipment should be placed into speed, but there's no reason to pump it above 75-80 at the higher levels (35+), and agility should be even, at least.

The rest you'll have to figure out for yourself But study CBs closely, and how best to attack them.
