Hehe my WR has done that a couple of times. From a WR's standpoint, that's obviously the QB's fault

Sik,

You might have that backwards. I find that catching is much more important than getting open. Who cares if you get open if you don't catch the ball?

You don't need real high catching to avoid something like that though. My catching is barely past the softcap and I've never seen anything like that.

Uhhhh why? Catching shouldn't be one of a Wide receiver's primary attributes?

Crap I totally forgot that Tackling is one of an Offensive Tackle's primart attributes!

Yeah you sure got me there!

My point is a WRs job is to first, get open, and 2nd make the CATCH. Most people get catching to the soft cap at most, then just ignore it and wonder why their WR is getting passes thrown his way deflected or dropping passes.

That's like building a QB with high throwing and no vision.

My point was that just because the word is in the player's name, doesn't make it necessary in the game. I know that your point with the bolding was simply to illustrate that a receiver's first job is to catch the ball. And while that may be true, the speed and agility you would have to sacrifice to get to that lvl of catching, would seem to make the build less than ideal. I can't make judgement, maybe you can have success with 70+ catching. From what I can see of the game mechanics, it seems that soft-capped catching seems to do alright and I would rather focus on getting my guy open.

Well my point is that I've seen a WR with 80+ catching and relatively (compared to other WRs) low speed/agility, and said WR had easily the best "completion when thrown to" percentage of any WR on his team, or any WR I've seen in GLB for that matter in close/competitive games. There seems to be an overwhelming relationship between high catching and the ability to avoid PDs.

And while correlation /= causation, I would like to argue that the accepted belief that WRs should ignore catching after the soft-cap is perhaps very flawed... I find it doubtful that when making this game Bort made catching in such a way that going pass the soft-cap is a complete waste, only granting marginal utility for WRs. There is undoubtedly more to catching than simply avoiding drops...

Fwiw, in the 8 regular season/playoff games that your WR (speed flash)'s team either lost or won by 50 pts or less, you caught 3 TDs. You also had 23 catches, 6 drops, and 32 PDs when targeted, resulting in a 37% completion percentage, which is the 2nd lowest on your team only behind only a LVL 20 WR who has no business in your league...

Perhaps you need more catching my friend?

To be clear, I'm not calling you out to be a dick. Rather I'm just saying that perhaps you shouldn't feel sorry for those builds which you do not truly understand the mechanics of...

Merry Christmas.

Lol, why? Sounds like someone who hasn't had 70+ catching. When you have a CBs dot exactly on top of your WR dot so there is only 1 dot showing and you make a catch, you won't feel sorry for people with 70 catching.

Could you crunch the same numbers for my player with 50 catching? For the volume of passes thrown at him, the number of TD's the amount of drops is acceptable for me. Completely discount the blowouts of course, he put up pretty decent numbers against competition as well.

As for PD's being the WR's fault, I don't know how all the code interacts, but it seems like it would make sense for a defensive player to get the first roll for a PD before the WR gets a chance to roll for a catch as if the WR's catch roll didn't pass, it would make no sense to run a PD roll after the ball was already past the WR.
