That's the issue with TE's in this game, they're all being built as fast as WR's.... when that happens, the CB's are going to shut them down all day long. My TE is built primarily as a blocker, and has 38 speed and 51 catching... he gets open ALL day, and doesn't drop passes. Reason being, all those fast WR's and CB's are just dropping straight back 15 yards, and the middle of the field is WIDE open. Sure, He only gets 4-7 yards per catch... but, HELLO, 4-7 is better than 0 is it not? Which is the TE's job, not going 50 yards down the field and trying to beat a CB. You don't need "speed" to get open, guys, you need vision and agility.

CB's don't cover TE's. LB's do.

Not when the TE has 80 speed and runs right past the LB and into the DB coverage area. I have yet to have a speed TE get more than 1 catch against my Defense

LB's are the main coverage man for TEs unless they are blitzing.
Otherwise, SS will usually be the one to cover up unless they're blitzing too.

we have a great TE on an excellent championship team and i gave up trying to get him the ball more

at one point in the season i had 40% of all offensive plays having the TE as the primary receiver AND i listed him as the 2nd favorite target (no 1st fav target). we have tons of cash so we also tried every build type possible by changing equipment

it made little difference, most passes went to WRs anyway no matter what we did

we were ripping up opponents too, so it made no sense. thats why i abandoned it and just threw a ton of passes to our pass catching HB

What TE are you talking about? Your own TE had 6 catches last season. I dont see a 38 speed TE doing anything against most LBs who when level 30+ have 60+ speed. I see a LB keeping up with that TE easily all day long.

Bottom line, TEs were great weapons in season 5, season 6 they were after thoughts. Not sure what changed, as if you knew what you were doing as a DC, double covering a TE in season 5 was pretty easy.

I dunno, we always found a way to get it to my TE as well as spread it among other receivers decently and have a balanced running game. Not just because of blowout games either: most of my TE's big games came against either our close wins or even our losses.

The more a QB has to check down the more often he will hit the TE and RB. Also TE is a more valuable target Vs cover 2 defenses that drop into zone under.

that's exactly what happened
the TE was just pwning everyone early in season 5, DC's learned to take that away completely, and it just hasn't changed
