I am going to retire him at the end of this season- experiment over. First WR I ever made, and sorta wanted to see what a high str/high carrying WR could do.

http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=612236

now he's beginning to become sorta uncompetitive so it's game over for him.....the 40pts in carrying and strength was most definitely not worth it...carrying "maybe" since I did see less tipped balls and made some crazy grabs in traffic- but the strength....didn't do much.

Maybe I'll start a TE in that mold?

Lol, dude. His catching is fantastic, he just needs speed. Put all your gear into speed, that'll net you some extra juice and then put all of next season's level ups into speed (~2-3 Natural and 3 boosts) and you'll be fine.

I'll give it another season, with points in speed. Thanks

Route Run and Quick Cut work very well together when WR has very good agility.

BTW: 65 agility is not very good agility.

I know it depends on levels, but what is a "good" agility value? Let's just suppose I am talking about a level 40-ish WR built to be (sort of) balanced - speed around 75 and catching around 60.

For WRs, the SA terminology really leaves 4 options for levels based on the SA description. So what would we imagine are the corresponding attribute levels for them? Random guess just the cap numbers? Anyone else have any better hypothesis?

Very Low 1st cap
Low 2nd cap
Not Low 3rd cap
More than Not Low 4th cap

I would say that at lvl 40, a MINIMUM speed for a WR would be 75. Possession or balanced. Think of it in terms of the actual game: WRs and CBs are the fastest players in the game. Do you see guys from college that run 4.8s going into the NFL? Not so much.

As far as agility, probably a minimum of 68. If your a possession or balance guy, probably more.

Catching is a little out there. If you're a burner, you'll probably only cap catching. Balanced, figure 2nd cap. Possession, figure 3rd cap plus equipment.

Although I do agree with you, Jerry Rice ran a 4.7 and he was one of, if not THE greatest WR of all time.

I think some people have taken "not very fast or agile" to mean that Route Run is some sort of flat bonus to SPD/AGL versus a percentage modifier (which would help faster players).

I think this thread has some speculation.

I like the SA among SAs, but I don't like SAs.

It has to be a modifier. I took RR to ten on my 20 speed/agility WR and saw absolutely no change. If it were a straight boost, adding 10 points of speed or agility should have made a discernible difference.

The issue is, there is no real world translation to GLB attributes. So saying there aren't any 4.8 WRs in the NFL is meaningless, since this isn't the NFL and you can't in any way shape or form say that X GLB speed = 4.8 40 time. And of course every league is different too.

Get real. No, you can't say X=4.8 but the concepts translate, as do many other concepts because...shockingly, both are based off the same game.
