I do one every week for USA AAA so i know how much time is into it. I also know that it is impossible for the Atlanta Dirtybirds to beat two top ten teams and go down a rank.

First of all, the word is critique. Learn your vocabulary before you go around calling people out. And second of all, if the guy posts his "power rankings" on a FORUM then it's pretty obvious he wants feedback or responses. If you do not want people critiquing your work, then you wouldn't post it on a public message board. Not to mention if he actually cares about the rankings he may want to tweak the formula so that an undefeated team that beat #4 and #10 is ranked at #12. If not that's his own choice...John Hollinger has a pure statistical power rankings for the NBA and they are equally stupid because sports aren't about a box score. The regular season statistics support Hollinger's argument that the rankings go Celtics, Jazz, Lakers, Hornets, Suns, Pistons, Magic, Spurs in that order for the top 8. Now, his formula may support this, but you would never be able to find a real basketball fan that believes in these rankings. You can say all you want about point differential but its stupid if you rank teams based on how much they blow out crap teams. Did you realize that advanced energy tactics let you choose when to put in backups if you are up by a certain amount of points? This power ranking PENALIZES smart teams for putting in crappier players and saving their starters stamina instead of running up the score.


Anyways, this is just an example of why I think the rankings are off:
If the Patriots win 3 pretty close games over the Colts, Jag's, and Cowboys would it make sense to rank them lower them lower than the Colts who blew out the Dolphins and Bills by 28 points each and lost narrowly to NE?

Anyways I hope Sully isn't as stubborn and defensive as some people who feel the need to type in capital letters to feel important. I realize that this whole thing is based on a formula after only 3 games so it isn't going to be perfect but your formula may need tweaking. Perhaps a strength of schedule addition will do you good so that the system isn't all about rewarding the blowouts of half CPU teams.

Look, MY point to everyone here is to stop their bitching about someone else's work into something. If you don't agree with it, fine, create your own and don't look at his ranking system because according to some it is flawed. Either way this is based on three games of information. I feel comfortable enough in his system that as the season progresses that it will make sense to the majority of us. Dude...I honestly don't think the guy ONLY wants "omg your rankings are awesome!" It seems like some people on this board will accept only praise for their work. Dude...it's constructive criticism. I suggested he include SoS for the reasons that I put. Blowing half CPU teams out is NOT a sign of a good team. It's a sign of a team that runs up the score.

With the new addition of the "put in backups when you are up XX amount of points" seriously destroys a lot of credibility of point differential. Before it made sense since all the good teams ended up blowing bad teams out but now the smart teams would rather save energy instead of padding stats.
