nice one FDC but as Arya said I think you have us in the playoff hopefuls when the way we are right now we're more than likely gonna be battling relegation.

E-City is another team that appears to have lost its rudder. The spanking that Berlin delivered was just the latest in what has quickly turned into a 3 game tailspin. The road doesn’t get any easier as the Mercs still have to contend with both London teams, Black Watch, Woodridge AND Paris. If the Mercs are going to have any shot at the playoffs, they are going to need to win 3 of those 5 games – and that may take a miracle at this point.

Other than that great writeup as usual FDC.

Great piece FDC.

Far as Monarchs are concerned, I finally updated the Defense for Season 6, a bit, but it still needs a lot of work yet.

Might have to resort to putting up big numbers and going aggressive on Defense.

I have to say London Minotaurs are my Dark Horse tip for Alpha Championship.

Not just because they have a decent squad and the tactics etc.

But their end of season run in is perfect for them to 'experiment' so more, and while I think they will slip up here or there, they have the ability to home their AI a little more than any other team, while their likely competition will still be playing their best stuff.

Should make Minotaurs tough to scout and a little better prepared than most teams.

If I were a betting man

Alpha Championship Odds:

7/4 Paris
2/1 Monarchs
2/1 Black Watch
3/1 WuJax
3/1 Warriors
100/30 Minotaurs
8/1 Nighthawks
8/1 Berlin
8/1 Red Bandits
10/1 Who Dats
12/1 FTA
16/1 AWC
16/1 Mercs
100/1 Carthage
2500/1 Toledo

The question left lingering now is whether this was a sign of how quickly the Wrecking Crew is improving or how bad this O-Line really is? We may not find out an answer until the Warriors Week 9 showdown with Paris.

Dude, did you forget that Jimmy Johnston plays for AWC? He did almost all of that all by himself. We held him to less than average on the day as far as sacks go.

Great writeup as always.

Just something to keep in mind when you look at offensive rankings however, some have their stats boosted by their results against Porto, and some don't. Just for instance, looking at passing yardage, the Aggies, not PPP, are the best team in the league.

I know you've got enough stats you're trying to keep track of, I just thought I'd throw that out.

You're absolutely right of course. That was a big reason why I decided not to do my first MVP/Player of the Year section in the Quarter Breakdown. It just was too unbalanced because some teams (in Alpha and Zeta) have such inflated stats thanks to Porto and the Swords.

I think by Week 8 when I do the Half Way review it should be more balanced -- at least enough to give those rankings a bit more heft.

I just used those this week because I got that cool greasemonkey script which shows all the rankings and I wanted to spice up the write-up with a new stat here and there.

But you're right, a lot of times they don't mean much other than when it's two teams facing off who have both played gutted teams (like Stockholm and PPP for example). Even then they are misleading.

Mike, the Minotaurs appreciate your rep and we do hope that we can come somewhat close to what you have posted.

We are under no illusions though what a stand out team your Monarchs are as well as how close the fight for the rest of the playoff places will be. I guess we will know a little more after our next three games

Good luck for tomorrow's game!

Were all waiting for the real AWC to stand up. Im at a loss (no pun intended) as to why we are doing so poorly. The only thing that I can definitely point at is our chemistry which should be fixed just in time to miss the playoffs.

I don't think chemistry is your problem, personally. Your chemistry seems fine.

I'm really not sure what it is either. I am not just blowing smoke when I keep repeating I think you guys have all the talent in the world. I was a big fan of the Trolls before they broke up and when I saw the mass migration I thought it would be an instant, lights out sorta turn around.

Grant it, I didn't know much about AWC prior to this season since I was very Alpha-ignorant.

The thing with Alpha right now (and this is not intended to be a zeta>alpha bash) is that all the teams from 8-15 are so damned close in record and talent that I can envision the whole Power Rankings flipping by year's end. I think the top 5 are pretty solid and set, maybe top 6. But those last 2 playoff spots are going to change hands a lot over the next couple games I think.

Another great write up FDC....Thanks for making us only a 28 point underdog vs the Pimps....I saw another spread that showed 47. I think you are both wrong but that is yet to be proven.

I know Joe....Whatever your going to say......but I still have a goal of beating you guys!

I like the Pimps, but I'd really love to see Antwerp return to their former glory. They are a very powerful team that is underachieving at the moment. Plus, the Pimps v. Annihilators has always been the greatest rivalry in all of Western Europe.
