My K has never missed an XP in 28 attempts this season, and he's only level 6. Is that wierd?

Thinking there might be (and if this is true I will be furious) some invisible attributes that require "upkeep" as you level. Like maybe it does do some kind of dividing by your level when it's calculating it in the sim. Wouldn't that suck? Maybe we should confront Bort about this.

That was before Bort nerfed Kicking, though.

true, but i think he really only nerfed strength iirc, but i may be wrong

b/c since lvl 8 or so, i've never had a season below 95%+ for PAT's

I don't understand anything in the sim.

Today, my kicker ended the game with 12 in energy.
I was scared and I was expected something like 20/28 XP.

No one missed !
2/3 on FG (1/2 on +50yds 56 missed 53.5 made).

This. I don't see any way around it. If K development were a linear progression, low lvl kickers would miss nearly everything and high lvl ones would be automatic inside 60 yards. There must be some upkeep coding. I will say that I must be doing something right. Haven't missed a FG inside of 40 yards since season 3.

I have to agree. My Kickers seemed to be getting steadilly worse from their earky days - though this season they do seem to have got better again. I have three who are still perfect on XP's and most of the rest have only missed the odd one or two. And they all seem to be far more consistent with their FG's - still missing about half of the over 50's, getting the vast majority of the 40-49 yarders and virtually not missing the closer ones. Having said that one of my Kickers just missed his first ever 0-19 yarders!

Well, if this marginal (IMO) kicker build is 54/55 XP and 4/5 FG this season you guys might be on to something:

http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=178914

In case he closes:

Strength: 24.77 Blocking: 7
Speed: 25.77 Tackling: 15.14
Agility: 44.77 Throwing: 13.77
Jumping: 13.77 Catching: 8
Stamina: 14.75 Carrying: 10
Vision: 34.63 Kicking: 74.06
Confidence: 45.95 Punting: 12

5/7/9

Yeah my kicker is level 38 and he's not any better than he was at level 28.

One thing I've noticed in my experience is that for kicking, I believe that skills are more tied to each other than in other positions.

If you have a lot of strength, but poor vision you'll miss. If you have a lot of kicking but no confidence, you'll miss. etc. I'm not sure I've really found the balance yet but it's definitely something I feel with my guy at the start of a season.

I'll boost STR to the soft cap and vis lags for a few weeks and I'm spraying all over the place. Vis comes up slowly and I get more accurate.

Recall that Bort implemented supporting attributes lately. You wont perform at 100 kicking if your next best stat is at 50, guaranteed. 100 is a huge number, most people here seem to think the rule is 2/3. 100 kicking, I think you need to have 70 confidence. To kick far you may need strength, but that may be supported by stamina or agility or jumping or something stupid.

Just a speculation! 100 speed 20 agi backs don't work anymore, etc. Packman has it nailed I think, you need supporting attributes.

That doesn't explain why you'd get WORSE though. It would explain not getting better. No idea why you'd get worse

Yes - agree - I have been saying for a while now that when my Kickers have Strength & Vision the same they do better. I have experimented this season with one of my Kickers - where I have developed his Strength and left his Vision to lag behind - he is on a good team and gets lots of kicks - he has a good range (hits 50+ yarders) but has become my most inconsistent Kicker 17/21 FG's and 69/74 PAT's.....
