Hey y'all. I'm the new owner for the Aces. And no, I'm not changing the name.

Recruiting into a non-capped league was nearly impossible but we're still working at it. We're gonna take our time rebuilding so expect us to be the conference doormat for a little while.

I'm the owner of the Seattle Thunder and we're excited to be here! 2 seasons ago I purchased a gutted Seattle Thunder team in the USA AA region. We've taken a beating over the last couple seasons but we have a strong nucleus of guys who wants to win. After this past season was over, we dropped to USA A and then switched with the Maulers. Despite the switch, we will keep our team in Seattle since they need a good team to pull for. Plus I like coffee. Best of luck to everyone in BBB #13 this year!

i'm the owner of the slc punks, it's gonna be an interesting season and we're having loads of fun filling the holes that came when the season ended but we're looking forward to turning the team back into competitors.

Hey all -

I am the DC of the Orlando Ninjas.

We will be slow building all season so don't expect us to do anything great this year. Looking forward to a great league though.

Are you a Mutant League Football fan or just sucking the cock of the original GLB Aces?

Now, I've been around since season one. I know the Aces. I joined them because I recognized the name and I wanted to play for a team with some history. I probably had 100 offers, some more lucrative.

Teams changing ownership and keeping the name is pretty common in sports. And sometimes people can't stand to see a new person running an old team, but teams like the Aces have built up fans and there are people who want to be part of a new tradition.

Here's some teams that kept the mascot: (I know the city switched. It's the name that stays the same.)

LA Dodgers - Brooklyn Dodgers (Trolley Dodgers)
San Fran Giants - NY Giants
LA Lakers - Minnesota Lakers (Land of 10,000 Lakes)
Utah Jazz - New Orleans Jazz (Utah Jazz - are you kidding me with that?)
Arizona Cardinals - St. Louis Cardinals
Oakland Raiders - Oakland, LA Raiders
New Orleans Hornets - Charlotte Hornets

The list goes on.

You switch names when you want to disassociate yourself with a tradition.

Tampa Bay Rays - Tampa Bay Devil Rays
OKC Thunder - Seattle Supersonics
Baltimore Ravens - Cleveland Browns.

Now, I haven't talked to flames and I don't know his opinion. But if it was my former team and I had to let it go for whatever reason, I'd be proud to see it return to glory and not be lost to GLB history. If this game is still here in 20 years, I want to see the Galaxy Aces in USA Pro schooling people.

My 2 cents.

Sure, but usually when a new owner buys an existing sports franchise he buys the current players along with it. This is a new owner, with a completely new roster, playing in a new stadium, in a new league. All that remains of the original team is the name and the trophies (won by someone else).

Think of it as being a poser or a wannabe. If someone had purchased the team for only the money Flames had in the bank at the time he sold it back ($75 Million with a daily salary over $500k) and taken over the franchise that way, then I'd say you should keep the name and everything associated with it, you bought a brand because it worked. When you were handed the team in this circumstance there was zero association with the original except what Harsh stated. So, the name now is just a big ole target with a big ole plagiarizing owner who only wishes he could have come up with a good name for a team. In other terms, FAIL.
