You blitz the MLB to hold the RG in place to enable your stud to go one on one with the tackle he can abuse....Proactive 4-3.

You can blitzand ILB and an OLB to perform the same function in the 3-4....

CB's should be able to play bump and run and linemen should be able to shift and also drop....

But that doesn't help if you've freed up your LDE and they're running a toss left.

I know situationally defenses can make things happen, I'm talking in a more general sense.

I think the game needs to change the way it addresses LB's, sure. Either that or line up my LOLB on the right when the TE switches.

OLB's just took a hit and took the D-Co's with them.

Oh stop it Hoates. It not my fault that you ran the off-tackle play on 1st down every single chance you got. You became so predictable on offense it was your fault the that my defense scheme stopped you cold

Believe my I know 10x more about the defense than your cordinators.

This game, I think you would rather seeing the sim than reading text books.

Scouting has become a lot more important now. It'll always be a guessing game to a certain degree. At least if you want to dominate one way or the other. The teams that will do the best are those who scout well, learning the opposing coordinator's tendencies... no different than real life football, for the most part.

If you don't commit to stopping the opponent's strengths, you're probably going to get dominated. For example, don't cry if you play your SS on +pass against a power running offense (or set up a mostly pass oriented defensive scheme). You have to bring that SS into the box (or set up a run oriented defensive scheme) and make the less effective passing attack try and beat you. Vanilla defenses will be vulnerable to a team that plays to their strengths, unless there's a mismatch in talent.

This is one more big flaw overlooked by Bort and his merry men.

Defenses are already at a disadvantage this season adn this makes matters much worse.

Secondary play is already absolute crap, now offense will be even stronger.

My thoughts are that Bort is an offensive kinda guy that simple doesnt understand the repercussions of allowing such extraordinary gameplay features like adding playbooks to only one side of the ball.

Imagine if advanced AI was only for defense or offense, thats basically what this is doing by adding offensive abilities and is yet another blow to anyone trying to develop a SHUT down defense.

This game is getting worse and worse by the day...

Let me answer that before it gets asked. Because I have spend to much time and money on this game to simple walk away before season 10 in hopes that my money and time was actually not for Nil...

In my leagues, the best defenses were allowing less than 10 points per game on less than 200 total yards per game. I'm pretty sure the decent DCs had the offenses in check before this update.

It is much needed.

I guess you are overlooking the fact that an average running game gains 5-6 ypc and that secondaries are getting TOASTED by offenses..

As said earlier, the only thing Defenses had going for them were good pass rushers.. Which i wouldnt be surprised to see get hit with the nerf bat too.

Much like the Bush administration, this game is adding in alot of failed policy.

Well at this point you're just making excuses for your sucky defense. Just like the democrats, there is always someone else to blame.

So the next thing is the introduction of the ability to jam.

Alot of the stats that skew up those 5-6 YPC are the games vs. the the gutted teams where people have 20 ypc.

The DC has to scout the opponent and find tendencies/weaknesses TO EXPLOIT! Don't be mad bro, just do a little more scouting and know exactly what you have to work with. Learn from your mistakes and use all the tools Bort has given you. Also, never underestimate your opponents even though you smoked them in the regular season.

LB shifts and the OLB positions need to be the same.

Obviously strong/weak favors the defense and left/right favors the offense more. But either way, they should be consistent.
