They are exploiting the game because you know the play is coming but it can't be or is very tough to stop...what's the point in playing if teams only want to run this play and another play that are currently exploits so they can win instead of ACTUALLY playing a game and having multiple plays.
This.
The fact that anyone knows a play is coming is the bigger problem...when the offensive playbooks actually start to look like real playbooks, people will be willing to experiment more...right now there are very few things you can actually control on offense, so it isn't surprising that people latch on to what they can control, be it to run the strong I offtackle or cancel all pitches from their gameplans.

Going to have to agree with jrry and Mak on this. Game needs more complexity and to be reworked so there are more viable strategies in terms of player builds as well as offensive and defensive gameplanning.

If only one play works, and you want to win, run that one play. End of story.

I definitely agree there are people who exploit the game and are in it just for that and to win the cheapest way they can, but unless I missing something I don't think we used any kind of exploit to speak of at all, I just set up the offense like I normally do and the defense was the same.
Still though, I can tell General that the whole Demon Lion team didn't have their hearts in the game this season. Still though, you guys didn't play bad and it was a real tight game until the 3rd quarter when we had some extremely helpful breaks go our way. Unfortunately though this'll be the end of this rivarly, at least in our era, don't know who the new Coyote owner will be so a rivarly could be resparked.

Well the whole season was a little bit of a misfire. The reality is the game is very boring right now and quite buggy with lots of issues and problems. I still have my heart in the game and I am not going anywhere, and I continue to have faith that Bort will improve the game from here and we will be back. A huge part of our problem was a critical player on both our OL/DL that went inactive on day 1 after he continuously assured me he would be a reliable guy and I banked on him being a part of the team.
Regardless of the above issues we will be back to fight again next year and expect to be an elite team. We are currently taking applications for some new players to join the team to address a few positions of need and that will serve as a catalyst for us to be back to form next year.
Good luck to everybody remaining in the playoffs and we will be back next year to battle for the title then!

Great game K-Zoo, always a tough match up. Don't think we won't be back to whoop your asses next season though.

Not saying you guys did...just kind of elaborating on the thoughts of General Mak why this game isn't as much fun to play anymore.

I agree with what your saying but it just isn't as fun when that happens. To me it isn't worth it to win if you are just exploiting one play over and over again. To me you should try and actually have an offense with long, medium, short passes and pitches, off tackle and inside runs...what fun is it to see the same play over and over again 60-80 times a game.

Back when real footbal was in it's infancy there were no helmets, no pads and no passing.
It managed to progress into the game we all love today.
I'm sure Bort's timetable will be much quicker.....

I couldn't agree with you more, but it makes no sense to say you lost because you weren't the guy to run that one play.

I've got pretty strong feeling on this myself. Most games, the OT play has made up around 60% of my runs, 70 has been the highest and 50% the lowest (that's % of RUNNING plays, not all plays on O, I always set a decent % of passes). That may seem to some as an "exploit," but, really, what are you supposed to do if you want to be a running team? The outside runs are absolutely worthless, IMO. I really, really, really, REALLY wish they weren't, but they are. Over the course of the season, I'd bet my net on outside runs have been close to 0 yds per carry, having lost as many yards as I've gained. So, are you really supposed to run outside, knowing the net result over the course of a game will be wasted plays?
So, what does that leave? It leaves the inside run and OT run. The OT run is by far the most effective of the 2, but I still set about a 60/40 split between them, plus toss in a decent % of passes, because I have no desire to run the same play over and over again either. Hell, even just splitting it between the insides and the OT isn't enough. I desperately wish that Bort had invested enough time in the O last off season to at least fix the plays in the run game. Flat out, if you are going to be a run team and do a 25, 25, 25, 25 split between Inside, OT, Outside & Pitch, along with a decent % of passes, you are going to lose every game against decent or better teams. So, what are you supposed to do? Call plays so that you assure yourself a loss or be a passing happy team when you want to be a run team?
That said, run teams are at a huge disadvantage against teams that don't have a problem using an "exploit" on D. I won't spell it out, but almost every DC here must know how they can shut down a run game. Hell, I've known since the D AI 1st came out and refuse to believe that most everyone else hasn't also. Frankly, I've been impressed that the majority of teams have refused to do it, except in 3rd and short, where it makes some sense. I think that says a lot about the sportsmanship of most teams in this league.
