we all need guys at least level 33, where else are we going to look? besides if someone wants off their current team, better to go to another wepl team than to another league.

I havent been too well recently so not sure whats up with this thread.

But I always thought it was a poor reflection on a team if they actively try to recruit a player that is under contract, by going directly to the player and not at least contacting the team involved.

I have on occassion made an approach towards current WEPL players.

Every time it was for a player with less than 10 days on their contract, who were getting less Playing time than I could offer them and each time I also PM'ed the team owner to inform them.

Now thats probably stupid on my part, but we have never needed to recruit heavily as we have never really had anyone leave since we first formed.

But I have to say that its a teams responsibility to keep players happy, and a players responsibility to inform his team of any approach from another team or their intent to leave the team.

I cant see how a team could recruit a player from one WEPL team to another without it being the Players decision.

So for my money the question should be revised into...

Does WEPL want or need to start its own marketplace for interleague trades?

A Thread where players can advertise if they want to move into WEPL or move teams.

Only rule would be that the player must tell their current team first before posting.

We know we have a desireable product in this league, and as we saw with Valencia Billy Goats, Glastonbury Knights and Lyon Sharks, a lot of players who's WEPL team folds want to stay in the league.

And we also have to realise that players will want to play for the best team they can, or find more playing time etc.

All I am suggesting is a simple thread where current WEPL players can post that they want to move teams, that they can only post in AFTER they have spoken to their current Owner/GM.

option B, and there is no other answer

How can you restrict a player from going to another team? That's retarded.

not trying to diminish your answer, but its not about restricting players from going to other teams. its about restricting teams from talking to players about joining their team when they are currently under contract.

I guess this thread was created because AWC contacted some of our better players were contacted by AWC with an offer to join when their contracts expires.

We all know how difficult it is to recruit in GLB - good FAs get 100+ offers. I have certainly spent MANY HOURS recruiting to try and keep the Musketeers in WEPL.

Last season we had our best season yet making it to the playoffs for the 1st time since season 1 (we then got creamed by the Pimps...). We started this season very poorly, but are currently 5-6 and a very loooong shot at the play offs.

When I learned that AWC contacted our players it really annoyed me! I know this isn't against the rules or anything, but to me this isn't very ethical - but maybe I'm an old naive guy, don't know.

I'm not following Alpha very closely, but now I check if AWC is winning or losing - just because I lost respect for them!!

I think jprietman is referring to the "old" nice guy atmosphere that was here from season 1 but had gradually gone away as new teams has moved up into WEPL (correct me if I'm wrong). This certainly wouldn't have happened a few seasons ago, I think.

English is not my 1st language, but I hope the meaning gets through! So go ahead and call me retard, old romantic or whatever you guys can come up with

Just saying "I wouldn't do that" doesn't automatically mean "that" is unethical.

No, it doesn't - but to me it is! We all have different ethics, and this is not personally something I would ever even consider...

I think we should do a WEPL Draft for Vikings players that want to stay in WEPL.

But then I would say that

I'm intrigued by the draft idea.

Everyone would have to sign off on it, of course--players and teams alike.

I think that's an excellent idea!
