He already posted the exact same stuff here in another thread, I think he wanted some "outside" advice: http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=1196089

Melon Dude. I don't think you need to retire your guy. You can still pull out a conventional build, but you'll be at worst 10 skill points behind someone who soft capped more things earlier. Not a game breaker.

Okay, and how do i "soft cap"? Which atribites should i foucs on for a WR?

I'm taking into consideration of retiring my WR. How long will it take for him to reach level 5 on soft caping training?

Lol, soft capping training.

The soft cap is 48.07, at which point it costs 2 skill points to raise an attribute by 1.

Please for the love of god do not listen to the people telling you to retire. They clearly have no long-term views. The SPs you have spent on the possession tree are wasted early on, but continue to level and invest in speed/agility and eventually you will be glad you have them. Basically you have to be patient and make your build more attribute based, then your SAs will play a part later on when you have a good base.

*Slaps face* Eh, I think I know what is going on here. You do realize you don't have to spend your skill points only in SA's? You can spend them in the attribute section as well. Spend your skill points to take catching to 48 (or speed or agility, I'd recommend catching though).

I do relize i can do that, for your information. So soft-cap is just when you max out an attribute? When does that happen?

As I said, soft capping is when you get an attribute past 48.07 at which point it costs 2 skill points (SP) to raise that attribute by 1. So for example say your speed is at 47.5 you'll spend 1 SP to get speed to 48.5, but after that it will cost 2 SP to get speed from 48.5 to 49.5

but that's bad.It takes more SP to boost up an attribute.

Of course it takes more SP, but you have to boost your skills... eventually you're going to be paying more than 1 SP to boost things...there's no way around it. The idea is you boost your most important attribute up to the soft cap of 48, then work to build up your second most important stat to the soft cap, and so on. As a WR you'd like to have speed, agility, and catching all soft capped. Then start using your SP to boost secondary things like jumping, vision, carrying, confidence; as well as building your soft capped stats up to the 3:1 cap.

Notice how when you level up your major/minor attributes increase by something like .25(not sure what it is exactly, not important to this point though).

.25 per level up x 4 level ups would raise an attribute by 1 point or the equivalent of 1 skill point.

If you are above the 48 point cap where it costs two skill points per raise in attribute point, 4 level ups x .25 per level up would give you an attribute increase of 1, but this time, since you are over the cap, that 1 point attribute increase is equal to two skill points.
