I think it hurt their feelings when we beat them out of the playoffs.

The owner probably figured that E. Europe would be easy to dominate (as his team was full with alpha players) and when those of us came in that learn quickly it became quickly clear that we would outwork the effort that he wanted to invest in the team.

However, it isnt broke and all it lacks is players, the only issue right now is the lack of players as the influx of all the new teams has put a strain on the free agent market.

Best of luck new guy, but it was fortunate for you to at least land a pro team, Im not sure if any pro team came open anywhere else. Also hell Kosovo is still run by Sooneer, which should be a crime.

that's a tough spot to be in, what kind of advice can yall who know the game offer to help him atleast get started? to be competitive in this league your average talent is probably going to have to be level 8 or higher. signing a ton of low level players isnt going to do you any good. take your lumps, build the team slowly by adding strong players as you can find them, and take care not to start overpaying players in a hope to get good fast.

good luck sarg.

I would send out a ton of offers for starters needed with a $5000 signing bonus and minimum pay for the levels. It might serve him well to spend some time sending the owners of players a private message first explaining why the players should be on his team...this may increase the number of players accepting his contract offers. Also make a press release for his team and put a listing in teams looking for players thread so some players will contact him looking for a spot as well. He'll want to get started on this right away in order to get as many people signed as soon as possible so as not to affect his team chemistry too much. IMO

I have never sent out an offer before I negotiated with the person in PMs first.

Contracts are an afterthought, the deal was always done beforehand.

Because they saw how serious and good that I am, they understood that they wanted to play for me.

Carpetbombing just doesnt work and its really hit or miss with the quality of individual that you get. You have to overpay for what you get and you dont know what you get? That sounds like a bag of crap to me.

What he can sell is snaps and being in a pro league immediately.

sign inactives, all the good teams are weeding them out....true they will become FA soon but you can compete now. A team I am GM for, signed 15 players in the last 24 hours. all of them level 5 and up.

This is pretty much my plan. I dropped my ticket prices and sold the stadium out for most of the games today while my fan support is still sky-high.

I fully expect to get handed some lopsided losses at first, as the pool of talent is largely level 1-4. The very few FAs I've found level 8 plus were apparently released from my team in the past 10 days (ack!) and I can't sign them. I'm keeping an eye on the trade block, but since people are flush with ticket money now, they want players, not cash. I have cash, but not players. As teams start to falter economically, I'm hoping to be able to work some deals to get good talent off of financially troubled teams. Realistically, this means losing a good bit at the start of the season.

My immediate priority is the trenches and getting folks interested in playing time over winning slotted throughout the roster.

Hell yeah, we want competition. If we didn't we'd be in the South America A league.

I've kind of got mixed feelings here. On the one hand, I feel kinda bad to lose such a competitive team like that who I played one of my most exciting games of the season with last year (narrow Tec-9s win in Week 15). But OTOH, I do have the Legioniers first game of the season and I really didn't want to start out 0-1.

Also, in the spirit of competition, I'd just like to tell our new owner that I think sending out min contracts is really bad advice. The #1 asset he has right now after playing time is lots and lots of extra money. The Legioniers got revenue for 3 home playoff games last year, and their total team salary right now is probably about equal to the change I have in my couch. I'd say don't worry about overpaying a little at this point.
