Anyone have any advice?

Welcome to the downside of being competitive.. when everyone around you isn't as motivated..

you have 2 options.

1) Spend even more time trying to find out just what motivates everyone to want to do more..

2) Work around everyone elses laziness, work harder, and win despite their lack of commitment, and then wait for them to jump on the bandwagon & pretend they were always "in it to win it"

i really think its lame that owners like you get stuck with gutted, uncompetitive teams. the majority of us all got to start off on equal footing, with a new league. its unfair you wernt able to do the same, and im sure it has to take some of the fun out of it. as far as advice.. just do what you can to stick it out this season and see where youre at next year before you give up. you may get in a league you can compete in.

I wish the maidens would get put in the D leagues, we might compete there.

Nah, I am not giving up, though it gets frustrating. I am going to make this work and continue to try and get active players that want to try and win

My 2 cents as an owner of a previously gutted A6 team that became the Murder City Devils.

1) Recruit Agents, not players:
a) Less Drama
b) More participation
c) If you can find an agent that can fill 2-3 needs, it makes it more likely they'll be more into the game than if their guys were spread out all over 90 teams.

2) So what if their 2 levels lower than the best 'player' out there, if they are easy to work with and know anything about the game in time they'll be just as useful if not better.

3) Stadium, Stadium, Stadium - Make sure the team knows the stadium needs to be built up before bonuses are handed out.

4) Build Analysis: Research the positions, give *suggestions* for players to follow.
No one likes to be told how to play the game, but they do like having someone bench mark their progress, and will listen to advice from someone who's done their research.

Builds are currently the single most important aspect of GLB. You can't win with bad builds. You can sometimes win with bad AI.

5) And this is the key: Focus on agent first, build second and level third when recruiting.

But what do you do when those agents get disinterested? replace them? You'll never reach "the future" if you do that too often .He's probably got decent enough agents.. but when you're 1-2 seasons from competing.. and you KNOW you're one to two seasons from competing, how do you keep people interested in all of the semi competitive games in between then & now?

I think that's the crux of his question.. if you're building for the future, how do you keep people from passively overlooking the present? If you don't focus on the present, you lose the future, but if you look to far ahead you won't take an interest in the present.. catch22 wrapped in a conundrum with a layer of enigma

I hurt my team a bit, by not focusing on the stadium and focusing on the equipment upgrades. Now we're having to play catch up.

Yeah, I remember looking at your team either last season or the season before and wondering what happened with your stadium. Of course the stadium game is almost my favorite part of GLB, because I'm a huge fucking nerd.

It's kind of funny really. Look at the teams in A#1 and what their stadiums look like. Generally there is a connection to them not being able to recruit and the condition their stadium is in. What a lot of agents look for is a team that can afford their players and equipment. Some owners just don't seem to understand that and can't figure out why people overlook them.

That, and our stadium is in good shape because Binestar's a fucking nerd
