dunno how it works but is there even a south to the south pole? i can see an east and a west but a south or a north? just curious cause i have never thought about it till now.and what time is it on the exact spot that marks the poles?
edit: found out what time it is in the south pole. they cant place the south pole in any time zone so they just keep new zealand time because the U.S. flies its resupply missions out of new zealand.
also there is an east and a west to antarctica.
Antarctica is divided in two by the Transantarctic Mountains close to the neck between the Ross Sea and the Weddell Sea. The portion west of the Weddell Sea and east of the Ross Sea is called Western Antarctica and the remainder Eastern Antarctica, because they roughly correspond to the Western and Eastern Hemispheres relative to the Greenwich meridian.
all thanks to wikipedia! best info there is for quick look ups.
