Agility is the best thing for a D.E. and shed blocks. get those high. switch your equipment from speed to agility.

Speed>Agility

Tunnel Vision>First Step/Change Direction>Shed Blocks

Not always. dontmess's build for example.

True, his build has stood the test of time. Just my input, probably should've added "imo" after it

i'll help you guys out.

speed=agility. neither is better or worse.

Tunnel vision, first step, change direction, and shed block are all important.
big sack isn't.

hmmm what else can i spill...

i haven't trained blocking or jumping... at all.

that's a wrap...

sincerely, dontmeswidme greatest DE builder (:

So basically what your saying is we are essentially seeing what happens when every SA triggers at the same time when your DE shoots off the line like that?

Also, whats with the change of heart, actually giving advice instead of just criticizing everything?

agility > speed > strength
tunnel vision > shed block > every other SA

speed with no agility just makes you run into the OT faster. agility/strength/shed block gets you around the OT. speed/tunnel vision seals the deal. imho.

I definitely owe Manning an apology, but wanted to do it publically rather than through PM's. I was being a grumpy old man yesterday, and my frustration at the D-Line forum in general kind of got focused and released on one guy. Not my intent at all.

I mostly agree with Dontmes, agility and speed are probably about equal overall. At my speed and agility levels (around 55 base for both) I have found agility to be more useful than speed; in the same games, against the same player, and having my guys both swap equipment to the opposite as well. At Mathis's and Julius's levels of speed and agility (guessing around 70ish for both) they both seem to feel that Speed is more effective than agility. Which may very well be true, as I am an SA whore and haven't gotten my bases that high yet to know one way or the other.

Also low levels of First Step and Change Direction were probably more obvious than Shed Block. Although I will stand by my opinion that high levels of Shed Block are MUCH more effective than high levels of First Step OR Change Direction, and in fact maxing Shed Block is better AND cheaper than maxing First Step and Change Direction combined. And once you get around that OT whether it be through speed, agility, shed bock, vision, or even the few remaining (are there any) Strength; Tunnel Vision is a god sent.

Actually I am fairly surprised at the no blocking or jumping statement. I did always imagine they were solid balanced balanced builds however.

Interesting!

People say that watching the play by play of games can help decide what to do for your player....so I watched and I always see the same thing with my guy. He's always bouncing off(repeatedly so not one bounce) the OT while trying to get around him. Not sure what to make of this but does anyone know what can fix this? Shed Block or more agility or speed??

Shed block will make you bounce off more, quicker, and the bounces get bigger. Agility and/or speed will help you get around the guy once you have bounced off of him.

I have 80 speed and 60+ agility and still don't get around guys....I guess that's not enough or somethin!? You'd think my guy could get 1 sack, sucks.

The more I see people with good builds complaining about lack of production, while people with nearly identical builds have awesome stats, the more I believe in two possibilities. One, that there's a hidden stat or two for players that make some more successful than others (often speculated about and I've never given it much credence), or two, D-Line General from your NT has a HUGE effect on production.

A lot of it does weigh on the d-line starting along side of you.

I don't think my DE has ever played with a NT with more than 4 in D-Line General, though the whole line has always had pretty decent builds.

Yea, I was gonna ask people if they have an awesome DT next to them. I posted my stats at the top of page 1 so I don't know what other stat could be hurting me that I'm lacking, as far as secondary stats being the problem.
