there is a cap. and it appears to matter now, yes. kinda think of it like the old EQ days when teams had to pay for it - you couldn't upgrade everyone.
there are traits that seem to have salary things attached to them which affect what your dot can be signed for.

if i think of it from someone's perspective that has never seen GLB it seems pretty smart. what football fan/gamer doesn't love Tecmo Bowl? my friends would get a football sim that looks like Tecmo Bowl quicker than they get me trying to explain playing a football sim with dots.
