That would be like me claiming that Im going to play for the league championship in EE Pro this season .. despite not getting to the league CCG since Season 2.

It might happen, I hope it happens .. but claiming that I will .. thats a bit absurd.

they had every opportunity to do whatever they wanted. Obviously they felt they didn't need to "boost" and they lost.

need to "boost"?

this is a silly tourney, its not worth anything, so there is no need to "boost" as we are playing for an end of the year championship trophy in USA Pro

ok so then dont make excuses becuase you werent boosted

if this tourney was played during the playoffs or off season, the top teams in this tourney would definitely be different and a lot more USA Pro teams would be in the final few rounds

Here's what the owner of Kalamazoo (the defending champs of USA Pro) said when they lost. No excuses from those guys...

"Randy03Texags has a great team. They played well and deserved the win. "

I think USA Pro is getting a bad rap here based on a very vocal minority. Pretty much par for the course though.

Why? An unboosted EE Pro team (mine) beat an unboosted USA Pro K-Zoo, what does that have to do with anything, all it would have meant is that the levels would have been shifted 3 levels higher.

All this tourney has showed is that the arrogance displayed by USA Pro by some people like yourself is unfounded.

Edit: And yeah .. what Coach said above .. Ronin was awesome to play against, he didnt make up bullshit excuses .. and of course I didnt make a big deal of winning over them .. its another game, and if we played 10 times, maybe we would have lost 6 of them .. but thats also how the playoffs go in any good league. The team that is better that day and the sim likes more that day wins.

I'm just saying, this tourney would have a different story if all the teams were at their full strength for this season. I'm not saying USA Pro would win every game that they have lost so far, but there would be more USA Pro teams still in the tourney though

Yes, we all realize that most USA Pro teams got invited to the game earlier than everyone else and still maintain some of that advantage.

This is like the diametric opposite of the 'unboosted' excuse?

"Well, we are unboosted. If we were boosted, we would dominate."
"If you were boosted and won, it would only be because you guys knew about GLB first."

These games are for fun, does any of this really matter? LOL

Correct, it is the opposite excuse for the lower leveled teams.

Everyone needs an excuse for why their dots aren't performing, right?

This is correct also. There is no money on the line. Which is why it cracks me up that the USA Pro championship is the important thing and this tournament is "silly". The thing is that you get the same exact prize for winning either championship: $0.00.

monkey was not incorrect - a few Mustangs did boost.

Not saying that you guys would not win if circumstances were different...

Your incorrect. Mustangs HAVE NOT boosted at all besides Jennings

No offense Sam, but unless you have guys who have leveled 4+ times already this season (and at Mustang player levels, this is VERY unlikely - my QB who plays more than 60 plays per game has only leveled once), then yes a few have boosted. I didn't say who or how many, but I know exactly what level every Mustang was on Day 0 of this season (as I do for every single USA Pro team)

Well.. its cool doesnt matter boosted or not. We won.. they had every opportunity to do whatever they wanted. Obviously they felt they didn't need to "boost" and they lost. And as a great prophet once said:

"Didn't take them long to start making excuses either. The USA PRO random excuse generator is much more efficient than the GLB random number generator."

We didn't make any excuses, all I was saying was we didn't boost anyone besides the two jennings which CTap was saying we boosted.

That is a fair point.

For now at least, the league title has two distinct advantages - it "counts" in terms of official GLB-hosted events (as opposed to player-run events) and it has the recurrence factor in that the teams involved stay the same year to year (relegations being the exception of course).

Kalamazoo can say that they went through Pushovers and us to win the title and that means something today, as both teams are still potential roadblocks this season. As of right now, this tournament (and all others) feature games against teams that not only do I know nothing about today, there is almost no chance I will play them again.

So yes, while there is no more cash incentive for one vs the other, and you could make a case that bragging rights should be equal between the two, there are certainly intangibles which today favor league titles over tourney titles...

If you continue to host this event annually (hopefully working out the seeding and timing issues in the future) you might have an event that carries as much or more weight than a league title. But in my book, this is not the case today.

good points.

The league playoffs are certainly much more "fair" in terms of who gets in and everyone being on equal boosting ground. However, I would argue that winning 6 tough games in a row is much harder than even winning 4 tough USA Pro games.

I would equate it to playing in the Big East championship vs the NCAA tournament. Sure you may be more familiar with teams in your league and may feel you play in the best league, but public perception is what will determine what is more important.

While some people never thought the tournament would ever get off the ground, the majority of GLB wanted to see what would happen. Alot of thanks goes to the early USA Pro teams who threw their hat in and legitimatized the tournament.

Bort's calling the tournament a "cool idea" was just the final icing on the cake.

Like I said, I hope Bort cans the tournament by starting an ultimate league with the top 4 teams from each of the leagues so no tournament is necessary for next year.

Next year there would be less opposition on grounds of being unboosted at least.

I'll start working on a little better system for the selection also just in case.
