I think I'm doing this "forum" thing wrong.

Okay, let's try this again.

*clears throat*

I actively dislike several other teams in my league, and earnestly hope I am able to soundly defeat them on the field of play for personal reasons!

if you are struggling to get out of National Pro to WL, you should probably decline the promotion to WL

Agreed.. Your regular season schedule includes 75%+ of your games against the Top 5 coordinators. Not even the NFL is that hard. (lol) Basically being one of the Top 20 Pro teams is like being Top 32 in GLB.

That's spicy... considering our playoff record.

Disagree.

I do agree that if you're struggling to get out of Natty Pro, it doesn't bode well for your chances in World League.

But in GLB, there's absolutely nothing that can prepare you for playing in World League except for one thing -- playing in World League. I've been in WL with the Palookas, as the OC for one of Tomcic's squads, and as a scout for Asau, and in all 3 cases, the step up from Natty Pro to WL was HUGE. In all 3 cases, it was a valuable experience for me, because it showed me quite painfully that I still needed to learn more and get better. Nothing else in GLB can prepare you for the experience of taking the hardest punches from the best coordinators and dots in the game every 2 days, every -- single -- game -- except playing in WL.

Take the promotion, take your lumps, take whatever wins you can get -- and take notes. Lots of notes.

This is only partially true. The very best coordinators do not show you much during the WL regular season. They save their best for days 36, 38, and 40. This is why agents who claim that the playoff sim is different make me laugh. The only difference is that the best coordinators put effort in during the playoffs.

This is why red said this ...

If you cannot get out of National Pro first time, your chances of surviving in WL is less than 5%, and your chances of winning it are 0.

I agree with lex. I think for all new joiners in WL: having a mentor in the first WL season is everything. Back in the day, when i only managed the offense, I had Disa to help me out getting accustomed to the WL game.
The communication was much easier, since we both live in Germany. And in our first ever WL season, Miami went right to the WL Finals with a 9-7 record and the 4th seed. This WL finals, where my former DC shrunk under the pressure facing tautology's "super" dots (eff lvl, build wise) and left some of the receivers uncovered, also pushed me into DCing.

From this point on, having talks with the best of the best, f.ex.
Disa,HCreek, MadMustaff (on O)
Ghuff, LittleM, jakobnielsen, Steve, Nex, Ryan (on D) and many more helped me improve and got me to a point, where I cruise through the reg. season.

Was there ever a run-only team that won WL? I don't know, maybe Rush Hour made the WL playoffs at best.
I don't think a pure run team can win WL. That's why I always said to Novus to throw in a passing element while re-booting Palookas into his offense since I don't buy the BS that he can't pass. He was a Scout for Asau which in the early days had the sexiest passing offense including Hcreeks teams (HHWC, Jersey) in the whole game. I even created 2 OAIs mimicking their WR3 action with a speedWR in the slot who also invested in the upper SA tree with route running etc.

I will do a palookas with benefits next off-season, i think then we might have a answer how effective this kind of team setup might be down the road.

Well, even if they're pulling their punches, their pulled punches are still harder than what I've ever faced in Natty Pro. So I stand by this: nothing else in GLB can prepare you for World League better than being in World League. No other league in GLB comes even close.

Now THAT I can agree with, but that's not what Red said. Red said teams that struggle to get out of NatPro should flat-out decline a promotion to WL. I disagree, because the experience up there is so valuable, even if you're getting your face bashed in.

Rush Hour is the gold standard of all-running teams -- which I allude to in my forum sig.

On Asau, trust me, my time there showed me I'd been doing literally everything wrong in the passing game, which is probably why I melted down when I was your OC for that 1 season in WL. (I might still have PTSD from that.) On Asau, they told me what to look for when scouting the defense, and I found it and reported back to the OC, along with suggestions for how to attack it. And the OC usually came up with plays and routes that would do a much better job than what I suggested. I was there to save the OC time and speed up the scouting process, so I played my role, and I'm proud of that Assistant OC WL Gold because it wasn't just an LOLtrophy... but let's get real, it's just an Assistant OC trophy. Without me, Asau probably wins gold anway -- they just would've had to work harder for it.

Can an all-running team like the Palookas win WL? I don't know.

Can a normal-offense team run by me win WL? Hell no.

I'll take my chances with "I don't know" over "Hell no."

Rush Hour did lose in the finals once - 42-10

Just not that hard to stop a 1 dimensional team

Casual Pro has been won many times by all running teams - Running Gag and Barrio each did it - maybe you should try there?

I have gotten teams to WL in the past, but you are right - Tom does 99% of the coordinating, I handle 95% of the dot building - both take a lot of time - especially when building dots to Tom's gameplan

what do you do for Comets? winning National Pro isn't difficult - even I have done that
