That wouldn't really be game changing though at all. Would add a super tiny % to your equip or +1 to your SA. Some builds get +4 speed or strength. Meh.

Can't rock the boat. Better to have it sit anchored than move forward.

Except it wouldn't be moving forward, it would just be pulling up the anchor.

Will it grow the userbase? No chance
Will it give some users some excitement? Maybe...?
Will it anger a good chunk of users? Most definitely.

Best case scenario it's a wash.

That can make a pretty big difference.

The ones that design the spreadsheets like the challenge every once in awhile. It is the people who just copy builds, don't innovate, and do as they are told who get mad. They aren't smart enough to make good builds, but they are good little soldier monkeys and can follow a spreadsheet. Until there's a training breakthrough.

Almost 6 years of not implementing stuff because it would anger the userbase.

Spent 6 years of implementing stuff that angered the userbase, but appeased those who stayed.

Actually, they didn't. "People that already ___ would get mad and quit" has been just as common in the Suggestion forum as "NGTH".

You can't really make the claim "That movie was AWESOME, it was just that the audiences that were stupid". I think that same principle applies to the mod topic.

I think the "Classic" game still has a longer shelf-life than the new game. The "Classic" version has a larger *passionate* fan base, whereas the new game has "newness" and not a lot else. I think some small updates to the Classic version and a public commitment to keep freshening it from time to time would be all it would take to keep lots of us around for quite awhile. The game could grow too, if there was an internal review/re-design of "How are we perceived by the Customers" with a commitment to improve that aspect as well.

5 years ago you could have easily made similar claims about this game not having a long shelf life. It was simple and repetitive and the only aspect really keeping it going was being or having the highest leveled, fastest, and strongest players in the game.

Not in the current game no. Do insta-79 (or whatever end builds are) and couple that with making this a team/tactics focused game and I think its a different story. You'd almost want to do drafts.

But you'd want to have some level of roster protection...otherwise why am I building 55 dots if they can't play for my team. You could get the 55 dots and essentially keep a certain amount every season as protected players (i.e. free from draft eligibility).

To me, this works nicely with a ladder system where you go from (just making shit up here as I go so not a fully thought strategy here) Tier AAA >>> AA >>>A>>>Pro>>>WL (no more "minors") and each time you move up the tiers you have some # of players that must go to the draft for the Tier you move into (lets say its 10). If any (or all) of your unprotected players do not get drafted, you can resign them or sign elsewhere. Teams that do not move up to the next Tier can draft players but will have to make room by cutting existing players. And if they don't make room by the "draft signing day", the drafted player isn't obligated to go anywhere.

Oh and yeah there would be the problem of opening builds. You could force open builds during the draft process (might be easiest). Or another solution would be to obfuscate the actual ratings to outsiders with an A, B, C, D or 5, 4, 3, 2,1 type of grade (you could even make this the default when viewing any other user's players ftm). So maybe you don't know exactly what their numbers are, but you know the range (and presumably the track record of the agent comes into play).

No it still doesn't work as insta 79. As long as you can see builds it is not going to work and it is a huge waste of time and resources to do so. Drafts work because you can only speculate on the talent you are receiving. It doesn't work in a system where you can either have my noob like built qb with 120 throwing or Bolicks 165 throwing qb built perfect for passing.

And as long as the agent can see the build there is no use trying to mask the numbers to outsiders as you are just opening yourself to collusion and networking.
