I always forget how helpful and rational Cornblade is. I wish all companies would mimic his customer service care and consideration if with the same attitude and empathy in each of his posts.

I really did have hopes GLB would somehow, someway, return to glory.

But when that dude got on here and acted like that, it solidified it for me.

I kept hoping that same thing. It is a shame that something wasn't done to bring more guys in especially when they added the new games. Marketing would have been very helpful, but I think that has been mentioned a couple times lol. There are so many good people in here that have been making wonderful suggestions that are being ignored. This reminds me of how the government works

I wonder if Bort would ever sell the rights to GLB?

If someone that has some business savvy could convince him to sell it off and then they implemented a number of the suggestions that have been made and then market it they may be able to revive it......I would love to see something done.

One problem I'm guessing might exist would be with the "tidiness" (or lack thereof) of the coding. Bort probably has this site and the sim jury-rigged a thousand ways to Sunday, and unless he had the foresight to know that the day would come that he'd want to sell this off, he probably has scant notes on what patches went in place over the various sections. I can't imagine an outsider would have a very easy time stepping into the middle of that if it was purchased.

OK. Frog will input. There are two ways to run a business. Sell a little for a lot or a lot for a little. I.E. pay per view boxing, walmart and drug dealers. If the draw is there then it works. If the demand is there it works. If you loose one of those then you have a situation. Most will run it into the ground for profit. Some will struggle and cut where needed to keep the image up. A few will abandon the recovery and sell. The later rarely happens as it means bankrupt and out. So GLB will stay here as is because it is stagnant and a solid model for minimal gain. No overhead, no expenses, no effort keeps cost down. Some would call it "milking". All of us in here disagree of course but if you owned GLB, it would be the same. Living with the threat of wild beasts is no problem, as its words you control and you can wipe it out. As an infantryman, I learned that the challenge is not the fight, but the thought of the fight. What keeps this game as is is just that. The thought that we can win and fight.

So be it.

This post has cares in it.

I haven't seen enough of those around here lately.

Add me to the list of people who would pay a subscription fee to play. Just set subscription tiers with flex per season. Maybe keep the recyclable flex as well and keep that as an option and make subscription flex non recyclable(it can be coded like reward points).

I think you'd be surprised at how many people would lay into a set per-season cost for a set amount of flex to do with as they please. And I think you'd be surprised at how many people keep their plans despite their activity level. If you wanted a stable source of game income and a more steady user base, that could certainly work.

Pay as you go right now is just leading to a bunch of guys sitting on recycled flex and putting as little into this game as possible. The new league structures are a good start. Bringing in a subscription system will continue to encourage new builds and active agents. There's no sure fire fix for this thing overnight. But there are certainly steps that can be taken. And right now, you really can't convince me that what you're doing is working so what's the use in not giving it a try.

I know if it changed to a subscription service, GLB would be getting money from my checking account for season 48. As it stands right now, they aren't. I'm sure hundreds of other users would probably have a pretty similar sentiment.

If they put in a subscription service I'd be done, I have put in enough of my money and I won't give them another dime. Especially when I consider the fact that they haven't shown any cares towards this game for a good 10 or so seasons now if not more. They are at a point where they are just trying to milk this for all it's worth without putting in any effort what so ever.

It would be a logistical nightmare to convert without resetting. I have about 50 dots in plateau and even a ridiculously conservative estimate puts that at around 200K flex coming back after retirement. How do you convert that to subscription?

I purchased that flex thinking I could just keep recycling it until I completely lost interest in the game. Do you think I'm going to reach into my wallet now to be able to keep playing the game? I am not.

I have another 25 or so dots that are being built. They're supposed to get my retirement flex which, again, has already been paid for and planned out. And again, do you think I'm going to reach into my wallet to build them? Again, the answer would be no.

Long story short, if they put in a subscription service, I'd probably be done, too. I don't think I'd have a choice.

I think you missed the point entirely.

You already have flex, you don't need to run a subscription... to maintain dots. Just use your flex as you see fit.

Subscriptions would be for people that aren't sitting on 200k flex, that want to play the game and contribute more dots to the game. It would generate new revenue and encourage people who have been just recycling flex rather than pay crazy amounts of cash for a game that hasn't changed in years, currently has a dwindling player base, and a shortage of dots...
