So yeah, Darkus was easily the worst mod this site has ever "employed".

You were suspended for two days, going on five years ago, for arguably breaking rules.

I've had accounts put on indefinite moderator queue (where a mod has to approve every post you make, till the end of time) for asking why they deleted a post. I've been permanently banned from game forums for saying that a patch was awful.

Making a stink about a two day ban half a decade ago just seems silly.

Honestly, the only "fix" that I've really liked the idea of is just embracing GLB1's hardcoreness.

Rebrand it as GLB: Tactics, have users buy entire teams for like 5,000 flex a season or something, that covers all boosts, CEQ, etc.

Obvious downside is that it prices people out.

Now THAT is a cool idea!!!

I didn't make a stink about a 2 day ban from 5 years ago. I posted an illustration of just how shitty Darkus was as a mod.

ITT: Cornblade doesn't like moderation in a vacuum. Goes back 5 years and looks at a ban in a vacuum.

Signed up September 8, 2008. Over the last five years I've had one warning, no suspensions, and no bans.

Don't post about a locked thread. I did it once, got the warning, never did it again. Pisses you off when I have a really long response typed out and by the time you click submit the thread gets locked. Now I just let the words go.

Darkus was a FFA mod, and hardly suspended anyone as far as I know, and wasn't a 24/7 religion troll bot at the time.

No, he was a full moderator. There were no moderators assigned to subsections back then. And he banned me on Dec 31, 2009 08:06:41 for posting an ASCII "no u" in a GLB main thread. Regardless, my point was that Darkus was actually a moderator while being one of the most notorious rule violators on the site. He didn't change his behavior after he stopped being a mod. He was made a mod and got away with everything because he was friends with DD at that time.

Drafts & the like wouldn't work with the current player-focused structure so not advocating it as much as highlighting that in a more team/tactics focused game...the players are the cheap & disposable component. Drafts would be highly interesting I suspect in a ladder-ranked structure (e.g. a world of insta-79), as would protected player lists, etc. (I realize I'm off on a tangent here but insta-79 was ever implemented you could use it as a way to adapt the game in other ways).

Drafts have no place in this game at all. Not as long as people know exactly what their own builds look like. Huge waste of time.

Not sure if you're making that up to fit the picture you're trying to paint of it you're just misremembering, but that isn't even remotely true.

We'll just have to agree that you're wrong.

Yeah, drafts will never work in GLB as long as it is a player focused game. Everyone left on GLB only likes working in absolute certainty. Build has to work as your spreadsheet dictates, or you rage about a training breakthrough. Team has to work out exactly like you planned or you just fold the entire thing. Tactics have to do exactly what you say exactly when you say it.

The Old Guard is desperately afraid of uncertainty, and a draft is basically the epitome of that.

I'm not even going to discuss this with bhall any longer. He was all over the place. A dog chasing it's tail, if you will.

I am certainly not afraid of uncertainty, but as long as we know what are own builds are it will be exactly as you put it. If there was a way to build without ever seeing your actual build but you still felt like you were doing something with it and there was an extra added luck/x factor to what you were doing. That is where a draft would be interesting.

Pretending that Darkus was once a polite, rule-abiding poster isn't one of your better troll attempts, and frankly he would be offended at the suggestion. He always took pride in being a flagrant rule-violator.

Does anyone else find it both appropriate and hysterical that Deathblade has replaced Catch as GLB's public relations officer?

We're talking about the same guy that called everyone a bunch of "cunts" while he was a mod. lol
