As witty as that sounds...of course we care about GLB's health. But there isn't really much we can do about it
the one thing I can see that you could easily do, is to let people build dots, starting at different levels, charging an increasing premium at each level ...
eg if you want to build a 280 day old dot, then it costs x% more than building a 0 day old dot etc ....
It might not attract a whole load new players, but it might attract more money from people who are still here.
Given that it removes all the build strategy and associated time lag, then you might even get some new users - because I'd imagine that those are two of the biggest deterrents to new users.
Of course, there will be loads of forum ROIT, but, at this point, does that really matter ?

Not sure how that gets more people playing.
Im not sure it does either, but it does reduce two of the primary perceived barriers to new people coming in:
1. Build strategy is too complex for noobs to learn
2. It takes too long to get to the highest levels of play
while at the same time, hopefully, giving current users something to agonize about.
The obvious idea is to charge more for dots built at day 280, but there are other ways to do it - eg if you build a 280 day dot, then you receive X% less SP to assign than you would have received if you'd built from day 0 etc etc ...

I do think Oak has a point, and quite a few other long time guys such as myself agree. 10 seasons ago I would have abhorred the idea of insta 79s, building to me is part of the fun. However at this point minors is mostly trash, and the majority of big spenders have pro teams. Not only that but at least personally I have come to the conclusion that the long time period it takes to carry a dot to term is a deterrent to any noobs that may join. It has to suck to build for over a year only to find out no team worth a shit wants you. With the insta 79s you can shorten that time frame for most people to a single season, and then they would be at least Pro capable builders. It wont help everyone, there always seems to be people determined to make shitty dots, but it would help what noobs find the site learn quicker and hopefully maybe possibly more of them stick around.

Instant 40's thru 79's, the higher you take your player up the higher the little extra cost would be.

Dont agree with them being more expensive than they are already...but perhaps less recyclable flex-wise.

Actually I like that idea but I could see agents that are sitting on flex at the moment making level 79's just to burn up their flex and not bye any more.
Or agents making 79's then playing at the same initial price it would cost to bring one up thru the ranks retire the player use the flex to build another player (even though it would be less of a return) and not bye anymore flex. I would think that bort an co. would want some return up front.
As far as the cost being to expensive already, there is some things you can do to control that. You already have 1 free player (2 if you were in the game before it left beta.
Also if you plan your flex buying to buy on black friday (if bort puts a good sale on then) you can help control the cost then. I realize you can not always wait until black friday and you need some during the year but planning will help control the cost.
I don't know I am just throwing chit out here so I can get flamed.

Ya I don't believe any of those ideas actually bring more revenue or agents to the table but really just speed up the process of an already shrinking player market. If they were going to run an insta 79 deal it would really just makes total sense that either they went with an idea like bolick's (I think he listed his pricing some pages back in this thread, or another) or just completely wiped the minor league system all together in order to create one main player base for the game and move from there.
