yeah, if I was rapid city or lima i'd be more pissed than I am. i think it is wrong and should be corrected by the admins, no questions. but i'd be freaking if i felt that i just got bumped by a team that combined 2 teams, one from a higher league.

There are several players on c-bucs, myself included, who already decided that if that happens to us, we will probably quit the game in protest to the situation. Especially if it happens again next season. For sure I will stop buying flex points until it's clear that can't happen again.

Well I meant the Michigan team on h..... Cripes, you know what I meant..

I was laughing about that to myself last week actually thinking, "Of all the times Dave has ticked me off with his anti-FSU rantings it's cool that we can cooperate here.. " I'm sure I'll still have to hear it about the Seminoles early season schedule (if you can even call it that), but......

Personally, I'm pretty sick of hearing about this. I do think what they did was pretty jacked up and I'm even more pissed cause they're in my conference. But it looks like we're gonna have to deal with it, gentlemen. I had a long PM conversation with Jed this morning and I'll give you a few highlights of what was said and what conclusion he came to.

I'm sure you've recieved a lot of PMs regarding this situation in the USA BBB#15. I know at least one of the guys on my team sent you a PM about it. Its pretty upsetting to most of the league and I know a lot of guys are worried about whats gonna happen with this. Being that game 1 in our league sims in about 12 hours, I was just wondering if you could give me an update as to whats being done about it or whats going to be done? I think even a post in that thread by a Mod or Admin would help calm peoples nerves.

Thanks

I just glanced at the team linked on the first post of that thread and it's a new owner, so I'm guessing it's the same guy.

Ah I see. The link in the first post is a link to the team that was gutted (used to be Jakarta Vikings). The link I just gave you above is a link to the team that all the gutted players went to (Albuquerque Devils). If you read through that thread (I know its a long read) you'll see what I'm talking about. The Albuquerque Devils were like 8-8-0 last year. Mediocre at best. Now their starters are all a much higher level and their depth is just as good.

Some may make the arguement that if they hold off on boosting then its fine and it evens out. But anyone with half a brain knows that a major part of this game is having good depth, and before the gutting they had none. The issue is not whether they are or aren't going to even out in level with the rest of the league. Its the fact that they went from the Miami Dolphins to the New England Patriots in one night.

Thanks, Morphius

Ah, that one. Bort actually looked into that one and it was fairly legit. He really did just want to stop owning a team, wanted to keep some friends together, so they stayed together, just on another team. From the outside, I know that does look bad, but Bort did check into it and allowed it.

Just found a post in that thread that helps make sense of the situation. Page 7, 4th post down by MIKECRAFT (owner of the Devils). In that post he states that Monoxide97 was the owner of the Jakarta Vikings (the gutted team) and that they are real life friends. So I'm not sure what Bort was talking about saying that the owner had been banned, since this guy is obviously the owner. Maybe coincidence? Or maybe just confusion. Hard to believe its coincidence since Monoxide97's explanation for gutting is that his kid was sick and he didn't want to own a team anymore.

If I remember right (and you probably already know this) Bort's definition of collusion was as follows:

'Collusion' - Two or more people working together to build up one team at the expense of another.

That hits this nail right on the head if you ask me. Again I really appreciate all your help in this.

There are unfortunately some judgment calls to be made in cases like that since there's a fine line between a player colluding to cheat the game and a player just wanting to get rid of a team and have fun playing with his friends. I think part of the reason the person was believed is that they did actually get rid of the team. In 99% of the cases, if someone really is trying to cheat the system, they'll keep the other team around to still act as a feeder team or a farm team to the higher level team.

Ah I see. But didn't they screw that other team over? And if so isn't a mass move of players to a friends team and screwing your previous team in the process considered collusion? Not trying to argue, just looking for some clarification. Again I appreciate your quick responses.

It was really a judgment call by Bort on this one. Technically, by the rules, yes, it is gutting. But at the same time, the other thing that could have just as easily happened is the players stayed, demanded to be released by the new owner, screwed with settings/tactics till he gave in, and then signed the players with the other team. We would be in the same position as we are right now, only the new owner would be even more screwed over. Or the players could have just played out their contracts (I don't know how much longer it was), and then all left at the same time, again screwing over the new owner. And those actions would have been technically legal. But in the spirit of things, this was probably the least painful thing for the new owner to deal with.

I really don't know how to feel about that just yet. I can see why Bort allowed it, but it doesn't mean agree with it. In the end, I think for this situation to be wrapped up and properly handled, the best thing would be for Albuquerque to be swapped to a higher league.

From start to finish it sounds like a clear case of cheating to me. And if we want to redebate what cheating is please go back and read the thread it is in there.

The worste thing about this, assuming that nothing does happen, is seeing cheaters in GLB prosper. It has and will continue to hurt the community and the developers. Further, people will lose faith in the game or make cheating more rampant thus destroying the game.

So for me, this along with the other cheating that has become common in GLB makes me sad...

As I stated, I'm not looking to re-hash anything. Just hoping to give everyone some closure on the matter. Even if it is rather unstatisfying.

I know someone had posted in that thread a list of teams that were stuck in a high league and wanted to be swapped down. So its not like it'd be hard to find a swap partner. I just think a lot of people will be left with a bad taste in their mouth and this would be a good way to lay the whole thing to rest.

At least one person on the team has contact support asking about just that. I don't know if it would have to come from Monoxide or what.

I still agree that the best thing to do would be to try and move up, and give a gutted team more chance to recover, but it sounds like its up to Albequerque's team ownership now.

Probably too late for them to switch leagues now. And yes, I'd also be alot more pissed if they were in our division, though I'd just deal with it. Not really in a hurry to leave this league anyway, and I think we can give them a tough game even with their shennanigans

I posted a few links to forum posts and teams that were looking to get into BBB in this thread earlier. With that I feel that the Alb Devils have all the resources they need. Now I hope they make the right decision.

lucky for you they aren't in your conference

But that said you probably would give them a run for their money seeing that your starters average level on offense is 17.54, defense is 17.45, and the kicking unit is 17. Dang you are on a great looking team that would probably beat them on a regular basis right now.

Well most of our starters have boosted, none of their's have, so not really a fair comparison, but its true we are not too far behind them as far as LvLs go.

Morphius, I appreciate you checking this out and all.... To me, again, it isn't that they did anything purposely wrong per se, it's just that the meat of a higher level team should NOT be allowed to transfer to a lower level team..... Why Bort seems to miss this aspect of what occurred is beyond me, but whatever. I refuse to waste any more time on this.... Guess we all just bend over like good little boys and take it....

I'm sorry but I'm not overwhelmed by this team. Yes they have mostly high level players but I think with a well thought out gameplan they can be beaten. If none of you guys are able to do it in the west by the end of the season, then the Menzingers will in the east vs. west showdown.I don't think I'm cocky or anything, but just confident in my teams ability. You know when I come on here I don't make crazy predictions. Just watch out if I like my teams chances in a game don't write it off. Have I ever been wrong before?

Your dedication to your team is obvious, and you've put together a really strong unit. I have to admit, I'm looking forward to playing you guys.
