Really depends what kind of movies you like. Definitely not for the wannabe deep boondock fans or mindless celeb watching couples retreat people. It was pretty well done, funny (in a subtle way), and interesting. I can see how a lot of people would hate it. A friend of mine was bitching and moaning after it but she'd kind of peasant status with anything art, movies, culture, music, etc...

Still waiting for some good movies as i haven't really seen many great ones this year. Last 2008 was a pretty great year for movies though. I'm hoping there will be some top notch ones coming soon. This is the season for good movies to start coming out

well its from the creators of Burn After Reading and the Big Lebowski. I can only imagine it being something like that. Which would be great imo.

2010 will be the year of the Comic Book movies. Isn't there like 10 big time comic book movies slated for the upcoming year?

FWIW Boondock Saints is completely unoriginal and not profound in the least. At best, it's a funny-for-some, moderately racist, Irish-centric, Faux-mystery action movie.

It's interesting that someone brought up the Punisher, because Boondock Saints blatantly plagiarizes this series, among other things.

You're going to use that point? Because I don't know if there has been a unique story/plot/theme/etc in a book, play, movie, etc in the last hundred years or so.

Yea, i hated burn after reading so was hesitant. The Coen brothers are a bit overrated at times and haven't been quite on the mark lately. I just hate the smugness and smarmy nature of burn after reading and george clooney in general. Not nearly as clever as they (george and the movie) thinks they are. The new stare at goats movie looks equally as trying too hard and being bad.

Also, if you like your movies perfectly wrapped up in the end, you might be annoyed by serious man. I have friends with good taste who still get all itchy and fussy when movies do that. I don't mind most of the time if it fits in with the theme and mood of the movie

Can we quit talking about boondock? It's shit, so get over it. It only really appeals to "guy's guys" who want to pretend they have an intellectual/deep side and get fooled by the movies "deepness" with obvious way they work in the religious undertones and other dialog. The sequel will probably be the same kind of drivel so i'm guessing fans of the original will enjoy the new one

I actually like a very wide variety of movies. Most recent movies I have been watching have all been horror/scary films since its October and thats what comes out a lot around this time.

Paranormal Activity - Considering the budget, the movie is actually pretty well done. If you can get by the drawn out boring parts of the movie, its pretty worth it imo.

The Orphan - Reminds me of the Good Son with McCaulley Caulkin (Spelling?) with a twist. I recommend this one actually. It does seem long tho.

Trick or Treat - I feel like this could have been a decent movie. However, the plot is highly LOL and its all over the place. It almost has the feel like the directors had something going and thought...shit im bored...lets just end this shit somehow.

Drag Me To Hell - Can't believe the money I wasted on renting this video. Not only did it look terrible on the preview, but it was even worse watching. Some of the chicks comments tho were incredibly cheesy, but hilarious.

The Orphan was terrible. Any movie that I can guess the plot twists of within half an hour gets a thumbs down from me.

Drag Me To Hell was bad. I'm not sure what the hell they were going for. Some parts were somewhat creepy, some were really bad, some were so bad they were laughable. The plot was about as cookiecutter as it gets.

Paranormal Activity...the low budget is nearly unarguable, and the middle part was infact quite creepy. However, the end gets to be bad, and completely breaks from what they were aiming for. It goes from a believable mockumentry to a joke.

One of the best done movies that I've seen, imo, was The Game.

I totally didn't see that plot twist coming. Usually I'm pretty good at them, but that one was mindblowing.

Are these all scary movies? I haven't seen a good scary movie in awhile. My friend saw paranormal activity and she called at like 2am saying she kept hearing noises in her apt and her roomates were gone and was freaking out. I didn't know it was that documentary/blair witch style though. Might watch it when it goes to on demand or something in the future if i'm bored

I thought the Orphan was decent. I guess I didn't see that twist coming tho which made it better for me.

I didn't understand what the hell they were going for either in Drag me to hell. You had to laugh at the cheesy sayings tho by the chick at the end.

Ya, the ending to Paranormal Activity was pretty ridiculous. Altho I hear there are like 2-3 endings to it? (altho that is just the ending and like the last half hour just got a little out there) Without knowing anything about it I actually thought it was some sort of real happenings until they went way too far.

Yes, those are scary movies.

Paranormal Activity, if I would have stopped watching it about an hour in, it would have been scary as hell. The last half hour completely ruined the entire thing though.

The only thing the movie has going for it, is that it is somewhat believable. You can actually believe that most of it happens, and the it is a real documentary. Until the end, then it just becomes totally wtf.

All of the endings are unbelievable though...but one is worse than all of them. The one where she throws the guy across the room, then eats the camera is the worst.

The best ending is when she sleepwalks downstairs again, you hear screaming, the guy follows her, the screaming stops, then she walks up the stairs, and sits beside of the bed rocking for 2 days. At least that one is somewhat believable and leaves you thinking.
