This game has to give something to the defense to keep the offense in check just a bit.

I think the problem with DEs...is bort&co are trying to keep the elite DEs (like Cote) in the 10-16 sack a season range...what does that do to the non-elite DEs...they get 0 sacks. Any changes that free up the average DEs a bit makes the elite DEs put up big numbers.

Let the builds determine their stats like every other flippin position in GLB...blocking and the QBs ability to get rid of the ball is so overpowered it is ridiculous. The elite players in every other position in GLB have ridiculous stats...elite DEs are lucky to have marginal NFL-like stats...

And that's a big reason why offenses are so successful. I remember when teams were actually forced to keep in TEs and HBs/FBs vs. elite DEs. Now they can get away with maybe a FB in, sometimes nothing in.

I don't have problems with my DE. I have come to the realization that he is just going to suck.

Believe me, if I can lead EEPRO in sacks, any of you could.

These are all sacks against non-gutted competition. I removed a couple of DE's that had sacks against gutted teams.

Sack Happy, DE, Detroit Demon Lions 7 sacks in 6 games
Matt Maxwell, DE, Over The Rhine Red Dots 7 sacks in 6 games
Ken Cote, DE, Washington Bullets 6 sacks in 6 games
The Freak, DE, Detroit Demon Lions 6 sacks in 6 games
Huckleberry Hound, DE, Las Vegas Gamblers 6 sacks in 6 games
Pig Pen, DE, Northwest Arkansas Naturals 6 sacks in 6 games
Reggie Whitehead, DE, Las Vegas Gamblers 6 sacks in 6 games
Max Alexander, DE, Over The Rhine Red Dots 5 sacks in 6 games
Julius Dee, DE, Alpine Golfers 4 sacks in 6 games
Eugene Fluckey, DE, Washington Wolfpack 4 sacks in 6 games
Anthony Risotti, DE, Texas Roughnecks 4 sacks in 6 games
Myron Sardukis, DE, Columbus Woodys 4 sacks in 6 games
Gus Schenevar, DE, Detroit Demon Lions 4 sacks in 6 games
L.Y. Spear, DE, Washington Wolfpack 4 sacks in 6 games

14 players on pace for 10+ sacks or more for the season.

# of DE's in the NFL last season that had more than 10 sacks ---- 8

You know I've done a lot to help the DE/OT interaction and there is still some stuff being done to improve it, but for people to say that sack numbers are unrealistic right now is completely off base.

And how many RBs put up 1400 yards in 6 games in the NFL. Stop comparing this shit to the NFL already, you know it's not going to work that way.

I would like to add, why don't you look at a balanced conference like WEPL Zeta. Leading DEs have
7, 7, 6, 5, 5, 4 sacks. All other DEs have 3 or less through 7 games. 3 of the 6 on the leader board are from the same team with 6 of their 17 total sacks coming against 1 team.

The teams in that conference have a combined 5385 pass attempts and have given up a total of 129 sacks or roughly one sack every 2.3% of PASS plays.

Even the worst team has only given up 22 sacks and has 355 pass attempts which is one sack every 5.8% of pass plays. That is right. The team that has given up the MOST/Highest % of sacks is giving up a sack on less than 6% of pass plays. No other team is above 5%. We aren't just talking about DE sacks either. This is total sacks.

Around 40 of the 129 sacks are by other than DEs. So if you are looking at DE/OT matchup then it is roughly 90 DE sacks out of 5,514 pass plays or you get a DE sack on about 1.6% of pass plays.

i would have to agree here because nowadays you can only gain whole points
in actuality you probably only need 9.3

Just let DE's loose again and let it settle itself.

I understand Offense sells. It does in RL too, but c'mon already. In season 6 (i think it was), I had to actually account for DE's in the gameplan. Since, I haven't kept anyone in to pass block unless it was a tactic to keep their pass defender out of passing lanes. I'm an offensive guy 100% and i'm saying enough is enough.

That's what I was saying earlier. Offenses are working so well now because they don't have to keep players in to block. I remember in S6 when you faced an elite DE, you were forced to keep in the HB and FB to block and sometimes the TE on that side if you wanted to send the HB out. Now I either keep in the HB OR FB or no one. It's not much of a worry. S6 worked fine because good OTs could stop good DEs. If Bort had kept everything the change and just made that OL/DL strength update, everything would be fine now. But people changed their builds AND he made the change to make the OL better which was a huge double whammy to DEs.

All that should be said. Anything else is begging for a nerf.
