I think the problem with DEs...is bort&co are trying to keep the elite DEs (like Cote) in the 10-16 sack a season range...what does that do to the non-elite DEs...they get 0 sacks. Any changes that free up the average DEs a bit makes the elite DEs put up big numbers.
Let the builds determine their stats like every other flippin position in GLB...blocking and the QBs ability to get rid of the ball is so overpowered it is ridiculous. The elite players in every other position in GLB have ridiculous stats...elite DEs are lucky to have marginal NFL-like stats...
And that's a big reason why offenses are so successful. I remember when teams were actually forced to keep in TEs and HBs/FBs vs. elite DEs. Now they can get away with maybe a FB in, sometimes nothing in.
