This is potentially the only positive I see coming out of the Obama presidency. Well, that and increased respect internationally. But I think if we simmer down, fix our own economy and country and quit meddling in other countries, that would come with any president.
I don't even think he needs to necessarily get elected at this point for people to realize that there are more people than just white males that can run the country. He has a lot more supporters than he would have if he ran even 20 years ago, which shows how far we've come as a society as far as race relations are concerned.
I agree. It's a big step, but I hope people don't pat themselves on the back and convince themselves that racism is no longer a problem. It still exists outright in many parts of the south, and all over the country exists in the subconscious of whites imo. We can't use statistics or anecdotal evidence as rationalization to judge anybody of any color on an individual basis.
