Here's my linebacker:

http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=106064

He led OPRO in tackles and sacks this season and his team reached the conference championship game, despite being underleveled.

As someone with a very successful linebacker build, I fully endorse this guide. It's very similar to what I did with my character.

Why is the tackleing attribute so overated?

Its not over rated its just shouldn't be prioritized over the 3 more productive attributes. Training points into tackling is sufficient enough. It may be more important for a MLB or ILB since strength is a factor, but for OLB having your tactics set to wrap up, you should be good with training tackling up to the mid 30s.

Rod, how high vision did you test? I agree that vision cuts down the fall-back distance in some plays a lot - pretty cool to see LOLB just standing still and wait for the HB to run to a trap.

Wait, I've been plugging about that LB drop back for 2 seasons now..your saying higher vision will cut that down?

Maybe a little bit but the high vision LBs are getting picks like crazy. Plus it helps them have a 'nose for the ball' more.

My LB has 69.5 vision and has one interception in his entire career.

(I apologize before if this has been addressed in this thread i haven't read through this one because of it's size )

i've noticed people saying more and more vision is starting to become overrated.

But i believe some of the problems LB are having with vision is because they are expecting them to be much much more aware and make big plays, but the problem may actually with with their confidence.

Sure u see the snap happen, look at the QBs eyes and u know he's going to pitch it to the left with the first step of the snap. But if you don't have the confidence. Your LB will think...

"well i think he's going to pitch it left .... but what if i'm wrong... then i'll be leaving the TE uncovered .... thats too much of a risk and i'm a pansy. So i'll wait till after the pitch, and then wait till i know the RB has the ball and it wasn't a fake pitch."

also when it comes to pass plays, PD, and INTs come down alot to the confidence of...

"can i make that INT, or should i play it safe go for the PD, or more so... should i just wait for him to catch it and tackle him so nothing really wrong happens."

(i believe the tactics setting are just a general rule comparative to confidence. So basically one LB's "semi-aggressive" may be another LB's "aggressive" depending on their confidence level.

so the way i see it, there is a vision check... and then a confidence check

either way... with 80+speed and 80+ agi... (modded of course) i think i need more vision, and confidence.

You may be overestimating the impact of confidence. All I think it is is a modifier for any roll you make; it doesn't have any decision making "duties." Breaking tackles, catching passes, swatting balls, forcing fumbles, etc. Constant modifier based on your confidence score that is multiplied versus your adjusted roll on whatever action you're taking. It makes sense, since "confidence" has an effect on whatever you do. It's not the primary factor, but it is a factor.

Question of the day, are GLB dots self-aware?

This guide is now obsolete for season 7 and beyond. I really hope all of you built like this. You are going to suck for a long time now. Bort started a thread about power backs and how much str and tackling it should take for a linebacker to bring them down. the general consensus is pretty damn high on those. THANK YOU ROD LONG for such a horrible guide. I hope some of you high linebackers followed this guide to be owned by power backs soon. Then you will be scrambling to get that str and tackling up.

I tend to agree. I think such changes are necessary, but speed based LB's will never be obselete if they have a good D-Line in front. The reverse pancakes will tend to even that out, I think.

Or he could just hate editing. I hate editing. I'd rather post multiple times and preserve the integrity of individual posts than constantly edit.

I wonder who you would talk to if you didn't have the internet.
