5 years is a long time. Lots of new customers that like football & have money to spend have been added to the niche in that time. Its like that in any business or industry. Its also interesting to note that GLB was at its peak when the economy was perhaps at its worst.

To still have customers from 5 years ago means they have done something right. To not grow from the same customers in any substantial way means they are doing something else wrong.

As DB brought up earlier. Not very many games do grow substantially over that kind of a time period (WoW being an exception). It has however maintained enough customer base to grow from new games and there is still work being done on this game as well.

Another thing about the 70% back thing is that when the new projects roll out, that initial investment will allow you to maneuver between games to try them out over an extended period of time.

Oh there was tons of butthurt back then in league forums. But there was also great rivalries with good posts too. The under pro forums are sort of fun now. The WL forums have kinda died from rivalries because well...it doesn't feel like a rivalry as much when we are playing each other daily. The only real rivalries that come out do so in the playoffs for a couple days and then they die for another 32 days.

Pro is just dead. WL made pro the AAA leagues and it will never recover. It honestly doesn't matter how competitive you make it. The pride of those leagues wasn't competition. It was the fight for what region was best. By making WL you didn't just take away the WSI's or Santiago's of those leagues to make things more competitive, you essentially took away their identities all together. I remember being a fringe playoff team in SEA Pro. But outside the thought of trying to think I could win SEA Pro, the bigger thing was omg does anyone think we might be a top 50 team in GLB? Or holy shit we got to win this game tomorrow against such and such from Canada Pro so that we hold our league pride in a seasonal Region battle. Or hey we just won our tournament game today. SEA Pro is now 9-3 in the tourney and we didn't fail them. It wasn't really even about your team much of the time, I mean it was always about your own team, but in a larger sense you all came together like the fucking justice league or the Avengers because you wanted to feel like you were in the best region. To me...the end of that was when GLB died quite a bit.

I agree. I think World League has a lot to do with the demise of the game. The Minor Leagues kind of doused the flames of the A, AA, AAA Leagues. But they could easily fix that by extending plateau longer and after Minor Leagues, Get rid of Regional Pro and Make AA, AAA, Pro and get rid of World League again. A huge part of the fun with this game was getting promoted.

i don't see the purpose of comparing with other games, coz this concept is so different to other games that there is no other real comparison ...but it has proven to have a market to tap into here and obviously it has failed to take full advantage of that

the fact that this is a game is a pretty good reason to compare it to other games

people are interested in NFL and like to have some type of hobby associated with that ...this is an ideal type of concept where it not really about the game, but about the topic of interest: American Football ...that is part of the market that this game has tapped into and the potential to taking advantage of that is massive American football is a national pastime, so of course there is a market outside of the realms of computer geeks to take advantage of

Yeah, let's just make the giant illogical leap that this game somehow appeals to everyone who enjoys the NFL.
