This was moved, because the Mods don't care about DEs.

How many threads about fumbles have been on the first page, without them getting moved to a position talk forum?

To be honest, I don't think I've ever seen a thread on GLB forum end up here. Bort must have moved it.

This is the final sign I need to stop buying any more flex. If Bort and his minions don't take DE owners seriously then they can shove it.

You played one of the slowest RT's ever the 1 game, and even had 1 sack where the QB went to take off to run and you got to him when he ran into you.

Regardless, nothing like burying a thread where people won't see it. Typical. Each day that goes by, I am getting closer to just retiring players and milking the flex until it's gone.

I have no big problem with Bort ignoring DE issue, after all if he wants to be a dictator to get high at night that's his prerogative.

The real issue is the stupid mods they hire, most of them are offensive guys that are very anti-defense and anti-DE. Now moving DE threads to bury them from public concern is a new low.

I posted this in the retiring d-lineman thread, but that was also moved.... I'm retiring both of my DEs at the end of this season - I'm not going to take this anymore. The fact that Hazy tested a 30+ differential in the main attributes and 10's across the board in specials and it resulted in essentially no sacks for an entire season worth or plays and Bort did nothing is a joke.

Sometimes as a consumer you have to let your money do the talking for you.

Both of my builds are open on their farewell tour... Feel free to use them as an example of a build that doesn't work under the current sim so those sticking it out with their DEs don't head down this path

RIP Freebear Turner- you were fun when you could get sacks, now you suck, and from everything I've seen I could move your equipment around in a hundred different ways and it wouldn't matter - we'll always remember season 7

RIP Luggs Slug - an unfortunate casualty of the DE debacle, you were just a measly special teams player, even the innocents must suffer. You had so much potential - we'll never get to see you play with First Step and Change Direction pumped up

The entire DE crying thing never ceases to amaze me. How is it that some have no problem what-so ever with there player{s} and some just don’t understand what the F--- is going on with there guy.
Have the ones that have the problems with there defensive ends ever thought about taking a long hard look at there players build or actually doing some homework to find out what works and what doesn’t

Have the people who use the same retarded argument ever thought that maybe they have. What would you say is a build that SHOULD work?

Well you just keep thinking along those lines and while my guy records 30+ sacks {again} we can discuss the definition of retarded. Learn how to build a player for this game and you will be fine

Your DE hasn't had any close games whatsover. Your closest game was a 30 point win.

again! This thread quotes numerous agents who have stated they cant get there level 1000 guy to get a sack against an inferior level. So that has no bearing on anything

Again, find 10(down from 20) DEs putting up good sack numbers in a league vs. equal level players with no gutted teams.(or that have not played a gutjob)

EDIT: which really isn't all that hard. Also, can't have more 1 from a single league.

USA Pro

These are all sacks against non-gutted competition. I removed a couple of DE's that had sacks against gutted teams.

Sack Happy, DE, Detroit Demon Lions 7 sacks in 6 games
Matt Maxwell, DE, Over The Rhine Red Dots 7 sacks in 6 games
Ken Cote, DE, Washington Bullets 6 sacks in 6 games
The Freak, DE, Detroit Demon Lions 6 sacks in 6 games
Huckleberry Hound, DE, Las Vegas Gamblers 6 sacks in 6 games
Pig Pen, DE, Northwest Arkansas Naturals 6 sacks in 6 games
Reggie Whitehead, DE, Las Vegas Gamblers 6 sacks in 6 games
Max Alexander, DE, Over The Rhine Red Dots 5 sacks in 6 games
Julius Dee, DE, Alpine Golfers 4 sacks in 6 games
Eugene Fluckey, DE, Washington Wolfpack 4 sacks in 6 games
Anthony Risotti, DE, Texas Roughnecks 4 sacks in 6 games
Myron Sardukis, DE, Columbus Woodys 4 sacks in 6 games
Gus Schenevar, DE, Detroit Demon Lions 4 sacks in 6 games
L.Y. Spear, DE, Washington Wolfpack 4 sacks in 6 games

14 players on pace for 10+ sacks or more for the season.

# of DE's in the NFL last season that had more than 10 sacks ---- 8

You know I've done a lot to help the DE/OT interaction and there is still some stuff being done to improve it, but for people to say that sack numbers are unrealistic right now is completely off base.

Note how the majoirty of that list(all but 3) are from the East. Is it possible that there are certain OTs in the East that DEs are teeing off on? And BTW what about teams who blowout CPU teams or slow build teams and get no sacks?

You aren't missing much, here is what a player with 11 in FS, 11 in CD, 11 SB and 11 in TV does:

In every game (except the 33-0 game) your LDE had a 7-10 level advantage on your opposing ROT. Your entire D-line had that sort of level advantage on the opposing O-lines. Thus you are getting sacks via level mismatches.

Put your LDE in an AA or AAA league where he belongs and you likely have 0-1 sacks...

Personally I am sick of the 79-31 type scores that dominate the pro leagues...

This game has to give something to the defense to keep the offense in check just a bit.

I think the problem with DEs...is bort&co are trying to keep the elite DEs (like Cote) in the 10-16 sack a season range...what does that do to the non-elite DEs...they get 0 sacks. Any changes that free up the average DEs a bit makes the elite DEs put up big numbers.

Let the builds determine their stats like every other flippin position in GLB...blocking and the QBs ability to get rid of the ball is so overpowered it is ridiculous. The elite players in every other position in GLB have ridiculous stats...elite DEs are lucky to have marginal NFL-like stats...

What's amazing about the offense to me and what helps QBs be able to get rid of the ball in 1.2 seconds is that receivers are able to get so much separation from DBs almost immediately. I mean, we're one second into a play and a WR has 5 yards of separation from the DB and the QB is rid of the ball a split second later. There is usually no time to get pressure even if you run around an OT unimpeded.

I think the QB build & being able to get rid of the ball quickly plays a pretty big part in the lack of sacks, at least from what I have seen from my 1 decent DL guy. He is pretty consistent in quickly applying pressure, but it seems like the better QBs don't have much trouble getting rid of the ball even under insta-pressue.

The other thing I kind of wonder about is the effect of weight on SPD/AGL. I know Bort made some changes in this area at one point. Last year I was on a team where I had similar/better attributes & SA's than one of my teammates, but looked like I was in molasses compared to him. The only thing I could guess is that it was the 60 extra pounds I was carrying. I've seen similar things at TE, where my more svelt TE seems to be more nimble than my fatter TE who has more SPD and a ton more Run Route and Change Direction.
