While I've skipped over most of the trashtalking, it's good we got back to civility in this forum.

Keep up the good work on the predictions guys. Let's keep this fun and entertaining.

Seizure wrote up an impressive post on the East for last week. Hopefully he is working on another.

I confess, I know nothing of the East. I've been too engrossed in scouting this bitch of a Western Conference to give any attention to the East.

I'd like for the team owners and players of the East to step up and represent better than they have.

Week 7 Matchups in the Eastern Conference:

Big 12 Champions vs. Whitchurch Mouseketeers
Greensboro Tsunami vs. Birmingham Bombers
Northeast Storm vs. Bay Area Wolfpack
Indianapolis Warlords vs. Denver Stallions
NewDawn Thrashing Badgers vs. Tampa Tiger Sharks
Virginia Wolverines vs. Pittsburgh Deatons
Ludlow Lions vs. Florida LightningBolts (Game of the week)
Lake Erie Menace vs. Charm City Headset Jockie

Overview: Some very intriguing and important matchups will be taking place in week 7 for the Eastern Conference. The game of the week has the LightingBolts of Florida heading to Lion's Stadium to face Ludlow. Other games will have teams jockeying for playoff positions. The Denver Stallions head to Indianapolis to face the Warlords and Virginia's getting ready to have the Deatons pay them a visit. The least exciting game of the week should be Whitchurch having to go into Big 12 country to face the Champions.

Big 12 Champions (4-2) vs. Whitchurch Mouseketeers (1-5)
Whitchurch is an interesting team. They have the talent to compete with anyone and all of their games have been reasonably close. They haven't been blown out at all this season, but have lost their last five games (by an average of 11.6 pts/game). The issue with Whitchurch is their offensive production which is second worst in the league at 6.8pts/game. Unfortunately for them, they get to face one of the most talented teams in the conference in week 7 and to make matters worse.. they have to play them on the road after a tough loss to Birmingham. Big 12 should control the game on the ground and unless Whitchurch somehow finds a way to put the ball into the endzone their losing streak will go to 6 games.
Prediction: 24-7 Big 12

Greensboro Tsunami (1-5) vs. Birmingham Bombers (6-0)
This could prove to be a dangerous game for Birmingham. The Tsunami have gotten off to a pretty poor start, but acquired one of the best QBs in the Eastern Conference after week 3 in Raul Manning. Raul threw for 262 yds and 3 TD's in Greensboro's win over Bay Area last week. With Manning running the offense and Sticky Hand out wide, the Tsunami have an extremely dangerous one-two punch on offense. Defensively the Tsunami have struggled giving up an average of 19pts a game. If Greensboro can have some early success through the air they could possibly force the Bombers to play from behind. So far the Bombers have shown the ability to play great team defense. Greensboro will have to find a way to score.. and will need to step up their aggression defensively.
Prediction: 27-20 Birmingham

Northeast Storm (1-5) vs. Bay Area Wolfpack (1-5)
The good news in this game is that one of these teams will come away with their second win. The bad news is.. one of them won't. Bay Area has a capable offense with some studs on the line and playmakers all around. Northeast has one of the weakest defensive fronts in the conference. They have also been outscored 84-10 in the past (2)! games. That is not a good sign for them this week, as Bay Area has shown the ability to put up points against the mid-tier teams in the East. The Storm's expansion woes should continue against a fairly solid Wolfpack squad.
Prediction: 24-13 Bay Area

Indianapolis Warlords (4-2) vs. Denver Stallions (4-2)
This game is right behind the Ludlow/Florida matchup for game of the week. If you like game that last 4 hours.. this will be your meal ticket this week. Both teams love to air it out and are #1 and #3 in the league in passing yds/game. The only difference offensively is that Denver has a slightly more potent running attack. This game very well may come down to how Denver QB E-roc Dizzle responds to his horrific 5 int performance last week against Virginia. The Warlord defense is very solid. Combine that with E-roc's meltdown last week and the fact that the game is in Indy and I think you have the makings for a Warlord victory. It should be a hard fought game.
Prediction: 28-24 Indianapolis

NewDawn Thrashing Badgers (3-2-1) vs. Tampa Tiger Sharks (1-5)
The Thrashing Badgers can finally breathe a sigh of relief as they escape one of the toughest 6 game stretches so far for an East squad. The relief will be short lived as they face Denver next week, but unless they completely fall asleep at the wheel they should notch their 4th win and move into a battle for playoff positioning. NewDawn will have no problems moving the ball on the ground and their offensive line will punish the Tiger Sharks upfront. The Tiger Sharks will continue their march for the #16 spot in the East.
Prediction: 20-7 NewDawn

Virginia Wolverines (4-2) vs. Pittsburgh Deatons (3-3)
Both teams come into this game on two game winnings streaks. Both teams also feature very solid CB tandems. Unfortunately for both, each team relies heavily on their running game to fuel their offensive success. Virginia forced 5 interceptions against Denver last week. If they can use that defensive momentum against the Deatons they should pull out the victory. If Pittsburgh can control the pace of the game and keep JD Justice and company off the field, they have a legitimate shot to pull the victory. I think, in the end, Virginia squeeks by in a very exciting game.
Prediction 21-17 Virginia

Ludlow Lions (4-1-1) vs. Florida LightningBolts (5-1) (Game of the week)
Here is the one game I do not want to have to pick this week. The red hot LightingBolts face off against an extremely solid Ludlow team. Florida has been on a 5 game run lately that has seen them handidly beat some very quality opponents in Virgina, Indianapolis, and NewDawn. Ludlow has been equally impressive winning 4 of their last 5 (5th game was a tie). This game will come down to ball control. Ludlow will have to find a way to run the ball against one of the best front 7's in the conference. Ludlow keeping Florida's explosive offense off the field will be key in allowing them to win the game. Both teams also feature two of the best run defenses in the conference. The difference in this game may be found in the passing game and on special teams. Florida has the most explosive return man in the league in Billie "White Shoes" Johnson. His ability to make the big play and give Florida good field position will be the deciding factor in a Florida win.
Prediction: 24-20 Florida

Lake Erie Menace (1-5) vs. Charm City Headset Jockie (4-2)
Charm City may have let some early season success go to their head as they have lost their last two games. Lake Erie, on the other hand, felt disrespected by my comments last week about being the worst team in the league. They decided to put me in my place by beating Whitchurch. Charm City brings in one of the conferences most balanced offensive attacks to face the worst passing team in the league. Lake Erie will have to find a way to move the ball through the air a bit against Charm City. Charm City should not find themselves struggling to pass the ball against one of the least talented secondaries in the league. If Lake Erie can move the ball effectively and play solid in the secondary they could very well pull the upset. Charm City, however, is not enjoying their losing streak and should take care of business in this game.
Prediction: 17-7 Charm City

No Power Ranking update for this week. Will see about updating it for Week 8.

Edit- Stealing the S.O.S thing from above =)

Strength of schedule for Eastern Playoff Contenders: (Not including the tie game)

NewDawn 19-16
Florida 19-16
Big 12 18-16
Birmingham 18-18
Charm City 17-17
Ludlow 17-18
Pittsburgh 17-19
Indianapolis 16-19
Virginia 16-20
Denver 16-20

The tie game between Ludlow and NewDawn causes the differences in games played (using this style). The strength of schedule is amazingly even here in the East. It is going to be a fierce battle between these 10 teams down the stretch to shore up the 8 playoff spots.

It might just be me, but each week the teams in the East look better and better. Teams that looked like a cake walk are learning the game and improving their teams. If you go in thinking the game is over before kickoff you might look like the Pats in the Super Bowl.

There were a few teams that looked a bit confused as the season started (we were one of them). You hoped to get a shot at them early. As time progresses everyone is looking tougher, and there is no "sure thing" in the East.

I like your write-up Seizure, while I can't argue the prediction (or results) I am betting the Ludlow game is a lower scoring affair. Good job as usual.

Here is the West POWER RANKING before todays games.

1 Badlands Abomination 6-0-0
2 New Orleans Nation 6-0-0
3 Northwest Nighthawks 5-1-0
4 Gilead Gunslingers 5-1-0
5 Biloxi Dirty Man-Whores 5-1-0
6 Santa Fe Regulators 4-2-0
7 The Screaming Snails 4-2-0
9 Orange Maners 3-3-0
8 Seattle Spartans 3-3-0
10 Los Angeles Gauchos 2-4-0
11 San Diego Savages 2-4-0
12 Charlestown Chiefs 1-5-0
13 Bellevue Blitz 1-5-0
14 Tulsa Scorpions 1-5-0
15 Oakland BlackReign 0-6-0
16 Oklahoma City Red Rangers 0-6-0

There was very little movement at the top of the chart. Badlands may not have the best of the strength of schedule but they are definitely the loudest team out there, and the media always gives that a big thumbs up. The Red Rangers will be the only winless team this year due to their lack of talent, maybe shouldn't say that in here but it is true. The big suprise is the Orange Maners who have ripped off 3 consecutive wins and are looking to become a power in the division.

The write up is awesome and I can't wait to see how accurate it is.

The Western Conference I'll admit looks stronger than the Eastern, but both seem to have quite the competition either way. The playoffs will be quite entertaining.

I would assume there would be 3 games to watch today in the West:

Abomination Vs Snails: Snails are a good team and should test them.
Man-Whores Vs Regulators: Can Man-Whores get win against a contender?
Maners Vs Nighthawks: Maners have put together 3 wins in a row can they beat a playoff team?

I originally had it pegged as a lower scoring game. Florida simply has been on fire lately and have only been held under 20 points all season long.. and that is against one of the conference's best strength of schedules. The last three games they have played NewDawn, Indianapolis, and Virginia (11-6 record) and have beaten all of them soundly (average score of ~28-7). While I think Ludlow definitely has the talent to hold them under 20 and win the game nobody has been able to the past five weeks, so it's hard for me to go against them right now.

Should be a really great matchup though. Best of luck to both teams.

Yeah it should be a good game...for about 2 Qtrs.

Yes, they will roll over the Regulators. Santa Fe is good but the Man-Whores are for real. They are a true threat to the Badlands, but I think we matchup well when that day comes.

Not against the Nightchickens. Not today. No disrespect to the Maners but they are outmatched and need some luck to overcome this obstacle.
