Why do you ask?

1 - allows people to make players, train and apply BT and boost without having to wait until trying to squeeze it all in on day 48
2 - allows Bort to shorten the off season a couple of days if he likes without messing up people's build plans

Bort can tweak the chemistry recovery as well and then shorten the off season some

the pre-season can have 4 games on 4 days as opposed to 4 days on 8 days

would also need to modify the ticket selling macro - could do 4 runs each night instead of 2 to account for it

it even went to vote... apparently people still like recruiting? cutting it to 2 days would cut off almost a full month or more of the build process
