OP's suggestion is alright. Honestly I'd prefer taking away 2 teams and going to a WL-2-4 system (where the 2 are hemispheres and the 4 are the leagues/conferences listed in the OP).

Taking 8up/down at this point in the pyramid (2 per conference promote, 4 per conference demote) would both cause talent to move upwards, as well as enhance the feeling of rivalries that the current WL demotion system undermines.

imo/fwiw.

So you can't lay the sole blame on bort or 8 pro leagues or whatever. If teams know they are going to gut, they shouldn't be sitting in nat pro. Set yourself to demote, or if it happens later, contact support or some regional pro teams specifically to see if anyone would like to switch.
The 2 teams i posted above would be in 4th and about 6th in rank in APL. Why are they just sitting in regional instead of taking action, contacting teams that are basically CPU teams in pro and getting support to move them.

Agree to a point... but who is responsible for those teams "still" being in Regional Pro... Support (or BORT) could run a script and find these quicker than you and I.

Having CPU's in National Pro is a joke to us paying customers... and why should the "user" base be responsible for fixing it?

And if it doesn't get fixed by "season rollover" we are left with another season of not fully competitive games.

Well there is only so much they can do. If a team guts on day 43, are they supposed to run scripts to instantly move them out? What if a team dumps if roster on 43 and then signs a whole new team on day 46? Beyond the day 41 movement which is automated, anything beyond that is likely going to have to be manually done. Should they dedicate people to scour the leagues to make sure people are paying attention or not sandbagging or whatever? I don't think so. Bort has tended to give people as much freedom to choose what they want to do, even when it might hurt the enjoyment for some.

They should probably force those dead teams out of nat pro, but as before, what if they are just waiting till day 47 to sign because the person with the players is away for a long weekend or something? Then they would hear bitching about that when person comes back with a nat pro ready team (With low chem) who got moved without their consent.

If you see teams that are just sitting there dead, maybe bring it up to the team owner that they should see about moving out so you can have a competitive season in nat pro. If you see teams obviously sitting in reg pro 7 with 150 points higher effective level and all 79 compared to a league averaging level 65 maybe suggest to them they might be ready for nat pro.

Well after Day 42/43... it appears "they" (GLB) does nothing, to me that is unacceptable.

Solution: nominate a commissioner for each Pro League (most have a self appointed one anyhow). Have this "agent - commissioner" scan the league, and PM teams that are struggling to fill a roster (or if they intend to fill a roster). Promote teams from Regional Pro to fill in the gaps.

Disagree with you.

There were teams sitting "dead" the last two seasons, and there were teams in "Regional Pro" that wanted to move up, but were denied (various reasons; ie: didn't make 2nd round of playoffs in Semi-Pro).

Long story short, peeps use to "hang thier hat" on tradition of Regions; but those traditions have died... ie; Kai going through APL, Osaka going through EEPL, and this season Rage Quitters moving over to Southeast Asia Pro League (there are more, cough Buda)... and can't say I blame them...

Care Level needs to be higher from GLB in getting a solution.

Absolutely, god yes and if they did do that there would be far less of a need for contracting the Pros. This would be the perfect solution but Catch has said that Bort has no interest in cleaning it up past the day 41 sort and that a second sort is NGTH.

Honestly if they gave three support people the ability to move teams with empty rosters out of the Pros and move up deserving Regional Pro teams the whole issue would be moot. There would be some who would complain about it from both camps but the overall competition in leagues would see a marked improvement. 3 people could do the whole process in 2 days for every single league. I think Novus had a great suggestion a few seasons back that showed exactly how easy it would be.

this thread is way too long to read through but bottom line for me is i want 16 meaningful games in pro not 3 if i'm lucky and i think contraction is the ticket to that

Fixes pretty much all the problems in the pro leagues. Increases competition in a major way. Gets rid of any hint of cpu/gutted teams in pro. Conference finalists make WL. Creates new rivalries and enhances others. Forum activity goes up.
