Yeah, after this and the Columbus Bucks thread I'm starting to become a bigger fan of Lava and Asheme.

The thing is, there is no way that a team can ever theoretically "catch up" in this game to those who started day 1, season 1. Not until it gets past season 10 and people are starting to make their new players again. They just literally can't if the people here in the beginning just continue boosting and starting in their games. That and collusion are the main problems of the game. If I can't ever catch up to the people in the USA Pro, then how am I suppose to ever GET into the USA Pro starting level? I've seen a few contracts from a few Pro teams, but they were the bad ones in the first place.

I'd say the smartest thing ever for a player to do is retire season 9 before the alphas retire after season 10, or season 10 after they hold on to their players for a few more years and literally get a few seasonal jumps on them.

1) Clearly, other players will be made in season 6, 7, 8. So your theory does not hold.

Nonetheless, the level difference will become minimal. Even if there was a 2 level difference, 10 SP will not mean much at that point. Build your guy well and he will catch up. I regret the way I built a couple of my guys, and I'm a bit of a disadvantage because of it.

This Oakland Intimidators team started from an all cpu team on season 1 game 14. Our record is 7-8 since then.
I guess it's tough, but not impossible to "catch up".

You'll never catch up with the top three teams, and clearly they have nowhere else to go at the moment.

I am just seeing it as most of the players that hit season 10 will be the people who originally started playing this game and that'll be the first huge wave of re-level 1s and many of them will not stay to start all over again. Just my opinion on everything, and it's probably not right but it is what it is. I guess the smartest thing to do is make a new player every few seasons to be ready for stuff like that, but then again with how stuff is right now all the players around will still outlevel and start ahead of you to where you'll only get to start playing in season 8.

Does anyone... ANYONE have a reason NOT to enforce the rule of "Do not act in a way that NO general manager in real life would act"?

And here's a solution- you cannot release any of your top 5 players, level-wise. Because there's absolutely no reason to do so. Even if the player was somehow refusing to play for your team, then you have to trade him. Because NO manager would just release his best players.

Players do NOT have the right to demand a release because of a coaching change.

interesting thoughts...

it might also be interesting to void any releases a few days prior to the gutting of the team. I know it would be difficult to do since many players would be on new teams and money would have exchanged hands, but an option...not the best one, but lets put our heads together and think about some more options (crazy or realistic).

Really can't see the reason why players can't be released right now it really doesn't make any sense.

If I was a player on the team and I knew the owner was leaving, I'd asked to be released before he sold the team.

Even though most owners are not that bad, I wouldn't want to take my chances and wind up with a stinker.

Agreed, but the reality of most GLB contract situations for players is they are on the team for another few weeks and then it is the offseason and they can find a new team.

Maybe instead of tossing the team in the perverbial trash the current owner can put the team back into the system and get some of their FP back, which would come from the new sale. Think of this as an option as an owner to retire. Maybe give first right of refusal to the current GM's like has probably been suggested before.
