Um, okay...

Don't get mad when they fire you for slacking off.

I don t post much publicly because there will ALWAYS be someone that resorts to some sort of immaturity and I will not lower myself into that situation...but I did have a few opinions/statements so here goes....

!. There are quite a few minors on the site...but I d tend to worry more about the use of profanity or innuendos in post that can be construed as offensive

2. I remember my Mom had a player avi removed of a pic of her light switch..it was a naked man with the switch where the genitalia should be...too many men complained about having to look at it..No genitalia was exposed or even present, it was a freaking light switch but there was some offended enough to report it.....Now, I just had to laugh at that but it was removed by GLB and she was warned...she was livid to say the least after she sat here for many seasons looking at women being used in ways not alluring or respectful to them...women should be respected not degraded...My Mom was a class act but could let loose and believed people should be allowed to express their personality and that it could be accomplished without being offensive

3. I can NOT be convinced that anyone left over an avi being banned, or leave for being butthurt because they had to follow a few rules that really are so simple to follow

4. I personally think many of the team names are much more offensive than any avi I ve seen

5. My personal opinion is that private forums should be more lax, although adhering to the no porn, racism, gender bashing and such rules...stay out of FFA if you have strong religious morals or thin skin...go to FFA if you want to join the menagerie and mayhem

6. I personally enjoy this game..I enjoyed it more when the user base was fresher..but I have many friends here and that is the real reason I stay...it is very easy to interact with friends here while playing

Peace All. Chad

See- that is ridiculous in and of itself. Never should have been a warning and remove.

Will someone leave based solely on an avy being removed? Yes and no. It won't be the avy itself, but the overall culture it engenders when you feel you cannot express yourself. All joking aside, the camaraderie, the rivalries, and the joking in the forums is a *huge* part of the game. You develop your online identity here based on your avys and what you say in the forums.

I was in a massive MMORPG that was a medieval combat game- really simple game that required huge alliances to actually win and it took like two years or whatever to finally get to the endgame. There was a lot of chit chat in the forums, lots of talking and such, but the primary focus was your alliance attacks on other alliance, timing everything perfectly, etc. You had to really focus on the game aspect, at all hours. Once endgame came and then the game ended, it was hard to start up again after spending that much time (and, in our alliance's case, winning the game). The forums built up some relationships, but once the game itself was over, it was hard to start again from scratch with the same intensity.

GLB does not have the same intensity- outside of game planning (which can get time consuming) almost the entirety of the game focus is in the forums. I used to have a ton of players (and still have a decent amount), but it doesn't take long to maintain them. 95%+ of my time on GLB is in the forums interacting with folks. So online identity is key. If the culture limits my in my avys and in what I can say to an extent, it is harder for the game itself to keep my interest.

My previous example of SA is a perfect example. Would SA still be here if he hadn't had his avy removed? Potentially not. But I know his interest in the forums and thus the game were greatly diminished when his avy was removed. You either get gun shy in the forums pretty quickly (which reduces your entertainment) or you rail against the mods/admins and get warned or banned for that, exacerbating the feelings.

I remember a team I had once had a gif of sunscreen being squirted onto a girl in a bikini and that was deemed inappropriate. I was like seriously?

don't we have an option to disable seeing avatars? why don't people use that instead of reporting things.

I guarantee you the number of GLB users under the age of 18 on this site is probably less than 1% and those kids have seen worse, especially if they visits sites like Chive (which most teenage boys have)

this is the internet, lighten up people.

I thought you said you liked Dub J? Now you are acting like you are mad at him for reporting you. Which is it?

You can't hide team or player avatars, only forum avatars.

The reality is that with a new game in the works Bort and DD have very little time or interest in GLB, it would be far better for both of them if we all went away and this game died. Many of the agents here are simply using recycled FP, so the revenue stream is starting to dry up... It's not worth their time since there's minimal profit available from GLB.

The only thing that is keeping things alive here are the forums, so the quickest way to kill this game is to allow mods to get their epeen stiff by coming down on any minor infraction in the forums. They've ruined most of the league forums, and are now moving on to the general forums, FFA and TT.

This game will be dead in 12-18 months, not because WE'VE tired of the game, but because Bort has.
