I think a lot of what type of QB ur team 'needs' can depend a lot on just what kind of a team u have. Obviously everyone wants an elite top 5 QB. But since there are only so many of them then becomes the question of what type of QB do u need. In the case of the NY Jets when they ran the ball and had a dominating D, they would have made great use of someone like Alex Smith imo. If your are the Indy Colts of this year, u want exactly what they got in Luck. Luck may lose u some (at least as being a rookie) but he has a lot of leadership abilitys and has won them a lot of games that I think Smith could never have done. On the flip side though give Luck SF's team and who knows what he does Probly pretty good but I think they rely more on turnover free football. 2 Totally diff teams so there could be be 2 diff answers

it is not perception... we have seen what he can't do... and Denver's defense was pretty good at keeping Tebow in games

Denver's defense was 24th in points allowed and 20th in yards allowed.

No. he doesn't throw those accurate deep passes like that.

No question that RG3 is a much more accurate passer than Tebow, but Tebow's strength is also throwing deep (kind of like Cam Newton), and Washington ranks near the bottom of the league in deep pass attempts.

JD to you happen to know what the total number of completions was in the NFL where the ball actually was in the air for a minimum of 30 yards? I'd guess 80% of completions are within 15 yards from the LOS, purely a guess on my part...

Around that. It varies a little based on the scheme (Coryell, WCO, etc).

Tebow is on the list for % of deep throws... but is missing from Deep Yards, and is missing from Accuracy of Throws.

Man, for a guy that says he dont evaluate talent from stats, you are quick to throw out stats supporting Tebow. I dont care what stats you find, the fact is Tebow is an awful QB. I am willing to bet you didnt hardly watch any Denver games last season, if you did, you would understand what people mean when they say Denver's D is the reason they won those games or the reason they were close enough for Tebow to finally show up in the 4th quarter after looking god awful the first 3 quarters. You dont need stats to know this, you just needed to watch the games.

Since you like stats though, here are a couple for ya. Since becoming a starter in Denver last season, in the games Denver won, they allowed an average of 16.7 points and the games they lost they allowed 32.3 points. All while completing a whopping 46.5% of his passes ranked 68th overall , which is unheard of for a starting QB and put him dead last of all QBs that attempted 50+ passes for the year.

Now if you want to argue that he inspired the defense to play that well, that may be true i dont know. However, considering their D is 3rd in yards allowed and 4th in points allowed this season, i think it is just coincidence they started playing well last season.

There is a reason he cant even start over the 3rd string QB in NY, will soon be a FA, and only chance of playing on a NFL team next year is is Jacksonville who just want to use him to sell tickets. Dont act like you are smarter than the entire NFL coaching staffs. He is a horrible QB no matter how you want to twist it.
