of the hb's I have seen since I have been watching football since 1985 I would score them like this. This isn't as much of a career list as much as it was who was the most dominant football players I ever watched, I was never completely blown away by Emmitt smith or curtis martin but I understand there place and why they were great
1. Adrian Peterson
2. Barry Sanders
3. Ladainian Tomlinson
4. Marshall Faulk
5.Terrell Davis
6. Thurman Thomas
7. Emmitt Smith
8.Curtis Martin

I never really got to appreciate how great Dickerson and Payton was so I left them off my list but if I was making a top 10 list from everything I have read, everything I have heard and every story thats ever been told to me from watching football with my oldman for 30 years I would score it like this

1.Jim Brown
2.Adrian Peterson
3.Gale Sayers
4.Earl Campbell
5.OJ Simpson
6.Barry Sanders
7. Walter Payton
8.Ladanian Tomlinson
9.Eric Dickerson
10.Marshall Faulk

Yeah he did have a phenomenal O-Line, but I still think he was an amazing RB.

apparently you nor your oldman know anything about football

Bo Jackson was insanely talented, but his career was short enough that I'd understand an omission from that list.

Bo deserves mention on the list of best professional athletes of all time, but does not belong in a discussion of the best rb's.

ed: it was just impossible to tell from the role he had and the duration of time he had it. if he had had a 'normal' nfl career, he very well could have been on the list, or even at the top, but we don't have enough data to tell.

hard to judge "greatest of all-time." are you saying, how good were they in their prime, or how good were their careers? if it's the former, just for fun:

no other backs are worth mentioning with the exception of jim brown, and he's omitted because i haven't seen him play enough to judge fairly. i imagine he'd fall somewhere between 3 and 6. imo.

I wouldnt say 7 1000 yard seasons is mediocre but it also isn't enough to get you on a top 10 list. To be fair to frosty though he did say in his prime and in his prime Lewis turned in one of the best seasons ever.
