Everyone who wants a human team should have one. Too much of a player shortage is problematic as well, and is why I said that as a temporary thing I'd be okay with lowering the leagues to 6, but only if it's temporary (assuming the bigger cohorts stay significantly bigger as they are now)..

I'm not saying everyone shouldn't have a home. There are plenty of spots available for crappy dots in Regional Pro and the D-leagues. WL & to a lesser extent National Pro should be for the best dot builders in the game. Just because someone spends money on the site should not lead to a sense that they are entitled to the top tier of the game. Either become a better dot builder or live with the fact that you can't make the top leagues.

Show me a single MMO where the weakest players make it to top portion of the game? There isn't one, games tend towards Darwinism in the regard. If you want a game where no one loses and everyone gets an at bat try T-ball.

They aren't in the top tier of the game in National Pro. That's WL, and it wouldn't be possible for everyone to make WL no matter what. That's fine.

And if anyone is relegated to playing out their plateau seasons in D-Leagues, then that sucks, after they're invested so much in a player.

Not everyone who supports contraction of Pro leagues wants to do it to keep some human-created players out of the Pros (some just want better competition), but I had the feeling that that was part of your motivation, and your statements prove it.

People deserve a return on their cash investments.

If you can't see how removing the bad players and bad teams from National Pro makes competition better then you are even dumber than I thought.

Contraction would by definition remove the worst of the teams in National Pro, some of which have human owned dots on them. Good teams would then get more competitive games by virtue of playing better opposition. Bad dot builders would clearly have a more difficult time getting signed which would be a nice side effect.

Anyone can build quality dots with the information available, we shouldn't reward those too lazy and/or indifferent for that laziness and indifference.

I get that. That's why I investigated and supported a contraction to 6 (but not 4), as long as it would be returned to 8 when there are enough dots to fill the teams. Having a team for every player's dot in the age range has to take precedence.

And if everyone built quality dots then by definition you'd be for forcing some quality dots into D leagues in plateau.

The basic thing people do here is build players. The rest is voluntary and done by the same people who post on these boards. Making being an agent as good of an experience as possible needs to be primary, and it pretty much always has been correctly prioritized. Bort has never allowed any lingering player surplus, and I hope he won't do it here.

Luckily even though it isn't hard to do plenty of people fail at it.

This dot should make WL in 5 seasons:

This one will not:

http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=2480480

There are enough crappy builders out there who will continue to churn out mediocre dots because they are either too lazy to stick to a plan or too dim to come up with a good one that there will always be spots available in Regional Pro. That doesn't mean those dots should detract from the overall experience of the better dot builders in Pro by making things like this happen:

Edit: Never mind. I can't believe that you trolled me into writing a post about how misanthropic you are, suggesting a good build was a bad one. But what you say is, like your name, mere noise. I'm glad I had the presence of mind to remove it now. I wish I had had enough not to write it in the first place.

You need help to deal with your tendency to bully, not that you'll get it as I'm sure you like that about yourself.

I reiterate my view: Don't contract unless when the new, bigger age cohorts start hitting Pro, you're ready to re-expand.

They need to make it how it used to be. Pro, AAA, AA, A, BBB , ect. all these new retarded leagues are terrible. Its ruining GLB more each year. Half the teams on this game are CPU now. Lets bring it back to the glory days.

Ok... I've read through a heap of this... and my thoughts on the matter

1) No amount of advertising is going to make this game any bigger than it is... the guys that play these games, are pretty much all on here, or have left here already...

2) Figuring this game out now is a scientific process that makes the normal user say "stuff this", i'll go play <INSERT FACEBOOK GAME HERE>

3) Doesnt matter how good the rookie numbers look... I bet that in 5 seasons time there will still be a CPU presence in the PROs... why? Read point 2.. if you dont have a resident nerd or committed psychopath (hello to my coordinators) to run your team.. its a waste of time.

4) No.. not everyone deserves a trophy, you gotta work for it... Contract the leagues and make people fight to get to Pro.. earn your spot.

5) Right now this game is as boring as fuck... create a dot... dont pay attention for 50 odd levels except training etc... then care for maybe the last 15 levels... wow.. who wouldnt want to be a part of that?

In closing... contract the leagues, simplify the game... FIX the game.. its been 4 years.. surely by now someone can fix blocking code... and make it competitive enough so you dont have to devote your life to it to be good....

the game went down hill when Bort stopped caring about the game and only wanted the money. the game was great seasons 1-10 until everyone owned a team in the game and there was no longer a real pro league or and type of structure.

If not now, then when... have you checked your National Pro Leagues today:

African Pro League - 2 teams with 0 on roster; 1 team with 31 dots
Canadian Pro League - 1 team with 0 on roster; 4 teams with less than 35 dots
Eastern Europe Pro League - 1 team with 0 on roster; 2 teams with less than 10 dots; 2 teams with less than 36 dots
Oceania Pro League - 1 team with 0 on roster; 4 teams with less than 30 dots
South America Pro League - 1 team with 0 on roster; 4 teams with less than 12 dots; 5 teams with less than 40 dots
Southeast Asia Pro League - 1 team with 0 on roster; 1 team with less than 5 dots; 3 teams with less than 40 dots
USA Pro League - only league without a 0 on roster; 1 team with 15 dots
Western Europe Pro League - 1 team with 0 on roster; 1 team with 1 dot on team

Grand Totals: 8 teams with 0 on roster; 9 teams with less than 15 dots; 19 teams with less than 40 dots (maybe more)

36 teams and haven't looked at how many "really" young teams... That is one Pro League gone... Let's go ahead and contract another.

Why are there teams in regional pro's that could move up into nat pro, yet are not doing so. Just quickly looking at reg pro elite #1 you have:

Rank... Players... Age... Level... Value..... Eff Level... Salary............. Team...
1 ......... 54 .......... 314 ..... 79 ..... 1271.11 .... 81 ....... $23,760,000 ... Bellevue Blitz
2 ......... 52 .......... 319 ..... 78 ..... 1262.95 .... 80 ....... $10,468,000 ... San Jose SkyForce

Either of those teams look like they would be perfectly capable of handling nat pro, yet are hanging out in regional. Bellevue went 15-1 last season. San Jose went 16-0 and are on a 20 game winning streak.

And i didn't even look at the other 9 regional pro leagues. There are teams that could be moved up to fill nat pro. But people would rather sit back and not take any action and win an easy regional pro league.

So you can't lay the sole blame on bort or 8 pro leagues or whatever. If teams know they are going to gut, they shouldn't be sitting in nat pro. Set yourself to demote, or if it happens later, contact support or some regional pro teams specifically to see if anyone would like to switch.
The 2 teams i posted above would be in 4th and about 6th in rank in APL. Why are they just sitting in regional instead of taking action, contacting teams that are basically CPU teams in pro and getting support to move them.

I'm still -1 on this idea of contraction. If people want more competitive nat pro leagues, then get the teams that should be up there motivated to make some effort to be moved to where they would actually face competition and be more useful than a 0 player or CPU team.
