4. Make weight have more of an impact. Currently, DE's can run almost as fast as WR's and that should never be the case. The same could be said for things like blocking and tackling. It should be more difficult for someone 200 pounds to block someone who weighs 250. Conversely, a 180 pound player with 70 agility should be able to cut quicker than a 250 pound player with 70 agility.

Has been addressed in this epic suggestion

Bad part of that is that S1 players before the reroll button was added were stuck with their weight so there are some 180-190 pound power HBs.

Bort has a monopoly right now at GLB, but is opening the door for competitors to see a real opportunity. Either Bort will listen to the people or the people will leave once a there's another choice. If he keeps 90% of the people happy...the competition won't have a chance. Unfortunately I think the happy meter is very low. When a competitor comes a long...a lot of people are going to explore the new opportunity.

I have really enjoyed GLB, but the games have gotten unrealistic. I really want to see GLB succeed and be a long time customer....but to be honest...when a competitor comes around...I may be leaving too.

I still enjoy GLB...but not as much as I once did...or as much that I could if things were better. I wish things would get better, but I am discouraged at statements that Bort wont do such & such...or doesn't acknowledge there are issues. If there was better communication and people taking ownership...GLB would have a great long successful future. Instead I do think GLB will be a 2 year hit....and people will move to Copycat GLB .com They will advertise realistic MMORPG where wil listen to the customer because they come 1st.

Here's hoping to people sending me this thread 3 years from now saying I was DEAD WRONG and GLB rules. I really hope that happens.

Well I am officially done bitching and will just enjoy GLB as is since there are things that will not be changed....maybe one day I will enjoy 8 Special team TD's.....triple digit scores like basketball....and guys in quadruple coverage making 1 hand grabs for TD's.

Nice post bro....

Competition was inevitable. Like every other "new technology" that was first to market, GLB will make many more mistakes than subsequent competitors that come to market after GLB. One thing that is very obvious is that GLB has never learned anything from its mistakes (it wouldn't surprise me if the creators of GLB couldn't even pinpoint where they went wrong). Not only do they continue to repeat the same marketing blunders season after season, the errors are becoming more and more egregious.

The one advantage that GLB had was the opportunity to create brand loyalty by being first. There certainly isn't a lot of confidence in the GLB brand right now. After the most recent mind blowing mistakes like the double standard created by the "test server" fiasco, the creation of moderators that are also gamers, and yet another unwarranted overhaul of the simulation, the current GLB brand is dead. This is shaping up to be a classic case study of why a breakthrough technology is absolutely worthless in the absence of marketing.

The most tragic is this thread. What changes need to be made? Wow. It was these kinds of changes that created the problem to begin with. I applaud the intentions of the original poster..... but the problems with GLB run much deeper than a stupid VA or why my 40 sack LB/DE can't even get a hurry anymore. GLB really needs to revaulate who it's customers are (this is a very segmented consumer population) and why each customer type is here.

Bort would never figure this out unless he brings a team of professionals on board to help him. Numerous people (including me) have mentioned that he needed professional help back in season 3, and now in season 9 Bort is pretty much still flying solo. Unless he seeks professional help, this game will never fulfill its potential.

This should be #1 IMO.

I also like the finance ideas. The sim is why we boost and build players.

Bort is a programmer, i have never known programmers to ask for help, they are just too cocky. They have a vision for their product and they take suggestions as long as it fits into their vision of the codethey want. This will never change. You really want the issues to be fixed, well the game better be bought out then, because as long as bort is the owner and doesnt have to be held accountable to anyone he will keep inline with his vision of what he wants.

I am no programmer...but have successfully started, run, and then sold a couple of businesses. You need different types of people to run a successful business. If Bort can pull off running every dept function than he is one hell of a robot. Use a football team as an example....you got an owner that is the money man. You have a GM who has scouts and financial wizards reporting to him. You have a head coach who has dozens of coaches and scouts. NFL teams are successful because they have experts in each role. I just do not see 1 person wearing all these hats. Either Bort will hire help...or as everyone has stated GLB will fail.

LOL

I just dealt with this last week. One of our ALL STAR programmers decided to change the look and feel of one of our pages because he thought it was a better way of doing it. He should of forwarded to the BA / PM on the project to ask if he could implement his idea....this would be up to Marketing not a programmer. Any way in a demo we were going over the latest version and Marketing EXPLODED when they saw the change in a conference call. I muted the phone and asked why did this change...our programmer fessed up, but I then took the blame and told Marketing I meant to forward a suggestion but did not know it was ready to be reviewed by Marketing yet.

There are many experts in many different areas....nobody is an expert at everything. Bort...you got the cash....spend it and hire a staff of experts in all areas.

programmers care about their product. put someone with an MBA in charge and the product wont change for six months. other than some lame ads on the site, of course.

Could someone pls in their grand wisdom explain to me why Bort even bothered making this change? It amounts to just shy of absolutely nothing at all. If Bort does actually read this (doubtful, IMO), pls, stop turning this game into a complete joke and at least dial Big Heart down to a 1% boost instead of a 2%. I mean, do you ever even watch the sims? If you did, you would see what an absolutely horridly bad joke the game becomes when it kicks in at it's current level. Why even borther with such an insignificant change as this?!

- Big Heart has been updated to deactivate when you are with 7 points, to be more in the original spirit of the VA. This change will go into effect for sims in two days on day 10. Because of this, I've added the ability to reset just this VA if you have it and don't want it any more, up until day 10, one time. If you have it, the reset link will show up in the usual place.

It is still very powerful, but the change makes it so that if you get down by 14 you should have a VERY good chance to reduce it to 7. Whereas before you had a good chance to tie the game before it de-activated.

Big difference.

1% still makes more sense, but I am sure that is the logic behind the change.

my team could care less about the change because the players i own dont use Big heart. Maybe we should, but i dont believe in that type of ability because it doesnt exist in real life. When you get down by 14 you dont all of a sudden just get better, you may try harder but that just leads to more mistakes being made. Such as fighting for an extra yard and getting stripped of the ball. Forcing a ball into triple coverage to make a huge play and throwing an INT. Thats normal football play. If people actually set their AI to what you should actually do then the game would be more realistic.

Such as going for it on 4th and 1 or 2 in the first quarter consistently... any OC would be fired for doing that.

There are quite a few former programmers with MBAs nowadays.... That stereotype ended a long time ago.... It's one thing for a programmer to throw himself a mulligan at the end of every season and change the product. A programmer with an MBA would have thrown his customers the same mulligan every time the product changed.

I understand, Duff. I also understand that I'll never get what I truly want from this game (making it as realistic as possible) and have come to grips with that. However, I also don't want it to go to the extremes of completely turning into the video games I play with my kids, where you can be seconds from death and activate your special power to fly across the screen at wrap speed and crush your opponent's skull is a single blow.

As it sits now, why doesn't Bort just make it so it's impossible to get up by more than 7 points on a team stacked with Big Heart? After all, if you do, they'll just activate their their "pink Lightning slippers" and streak by the entire D on their next play anyway.

That would make a lot of sense. Just like Jump The Snap I think Big Heart should have a slight chance to some negative things happen like a fumble or INT to make it more realistic. If you're going to get that much benefit, you should have to take some risks.

I'd like to see some seemingly simple additions as well.

Such as--show the current score while watching video.
Tell us how a K misses a FG or XP. (Short, Wide Right, short and left, etc. Not sure why the replay can't be shown but this would be a start.

Add some more stats to make more positions more appealing and realistic. There is an MVP race in the conference stanigns page but so many other areas would be more interesting to me.

I'll name a few but there can be a whole list of them that would seem easy to incorporate.

Add PDs to conference standings.
Add gross and net yards for Ps.
Add punts inside 20 for Ps
Sacks allowed or perhaps a % in case a team runs too much--this might be more difficult
Receptions made on standings page
yards per carry and yards per receptions on standings
fumble recoveries to standings page
touchbacks
punt and kick return avg on standings page
