Wow. Overwhelming support. Let's see how long it take to happen.

Well my last thread turned into a ridiculous argument about LB nicknames, so we're not going that route again.
What I would like to see done is the ability to designate a Strong side and Weak side OLB who will play on the appropriate side, as opposed to Right and Left who will be facing a mismatch when the offense shifts the TE. Don't worry about naming the Sam, Will, Mike or whatever, just Strong and Weak.
This is a MUST with the new Offensive AI option to flip the TE, if not done then your OLB's will be forced to change rolls any time the OC wants putting them out of position. Another occasion of this going back would be LB shifts. If you want to blitz the weak side on say 3rd and long then you may set an output to 3-4 Weak Shift, blitz ROLB and RILB every time. Under the current system, the offense could simply move the TE to the left side. Without Strong and Weakside LB's however, your ROLB and RILB will now shift to the NEW strong side (right) and blitz right into the TE with little to no chance of getting around the edge.
No name calling this time around, play nice!
this idea should never work cuz even in the NFL WOLB AND SOLB are just not needed to be changed

It would be better to put in a situational sub rather than do what your suggesting. Sam and Willy are really nothing more than ROLB or LOLB renamed. The D at any level can do a situational sub just the O in glb can but the D here is totally stuck.

LOVE it also I'd like the ability to choose which LB comes off the field in Nickel formations since I'd rather my SOLB go off the field instead of my WOLB who's a better blitzer.

In the entire football world, it's LOLB and ROLB. I played football for 11 years and am a faithful football follower, and I've never heard that terminology used before this thread. If you can't associate in your head that left = strong and right = weak, then football might not be the game you're best suited to play. Goodness, people.

I have to agree here. It really isn't that hard to remember.

You're an idiot if you think the strong and weak sides are the same on every single play...

+1 You played football for 11 years and never once heard the idea of a strong and weak LB? Where did you play football? Madden?? left does NOT equal strong side. If you even try to argue that you are a moron. Strong side of the play is the side with more players on it, it's usually the side here the TE lines up. Perhaps football is not the game you're best suited to play. Maybe something in the special olympics might be more up you alley?
edit - link for the dumbasses who don't know what SOLB and WOLB means - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linebacker#Strongside_linebacker
Anyways, back on topic. Perfectly reasonable suggestion. If the offense can switch what side is strong/weak, why cant the D?
