promotion is the reward for winning minor leagues. the tournament is the reward for winning pro leagues.

I posted this over in ImTheScientist's tourney, thought it could help everyone:

"As much as you're going to hate what I'm about to say, your best chance of having an organized time (a week or 2 or whatever) for tournaments would be to work with SI, Sam, and anyone else trying to put together something like this to get Bort to do it."

I posted a proposition to the Mod forum for that, I don't know if Bort will listen, but if you guys coordinate, maybe there can be a set time at the end of the season for everyone to do friendlies, at which time, you could all do your tournaments

I agree, but if we had to start all over again, you would have 100 different people (like Scientist) with 100 different point systems and all of the big name teams would never agree again on 1 system. Each of them would probably want to set up their own tournament and rank themselves #1. It would be a mess.

I think this is a one time tournament either way.

If it doesn't happen during the season as planned, then my guess is that it never happens. There are too many people in this game who are too petty and don't like someone or have huge egos to be able to ever get this many high level teams to agree on anything.

I'm surprised that as many of the top teams agreed to join my tournament. I just don't see it happening again.

Let's be honest here, it was *only* because there weren't any other tournaments to join that teams signed up for mine. That and they could see I put in the work to make it as fair as possible.

And ultimate league would solve everything.

No, not my team

not a bad team, but I would have to have the team owner PM me that they are interested. You have no idea how many PM's I had to send to owners and GM's trying to get ahold of teams that I invited. It was a huge pain in the ass. Plus how many hours I wasted carefully ranking teams that didn't even want in (like the Pimps and Kai).

So if the owner PM's me that they want in and would accept an invite, I'll add them to the back of the waitng list.

I really don't think more than 1 or 2 teams at most could get in. And it isn't fair to the teams that have been preparing for someone else in round 1. After a certain date, if any teams pull out, then the opponent is just going to get a forfeit win.

I may set that cut-off date to 24 hours after Bort makes his announcement and I have final dates set for the tournament games.

Totally understand - I'll ask them to PM you if interested

Is this thing actually going to go?

Have you and Bort worked it out?

It would be nice to know if its going to go down, because Id like to have a day or two to prepare.

Ooohhhhh, I read the bracket the wrong way. You're right, my bad.

We'd face a team who already boosted and is just barely higher level than we are for the effort. Gotta love the intelligence of, when there's a MAJOR change to the way player builds and the sim works, boosting before really getting to test things out and find the best way to spend those points....

Doesn't mean they've spent those SP yet.

We have a tough matchup in the first round with Santiago, but it's what we expected. After all, this IS the top 64 teams in GLB (that aren't scared of a little competition).

Cobra Kai??

One, you can prepare a gameplan now and save it if you want.

Two, Bort has to get the season running like he would like first before he sets up friendlies. I'm not sure if he is satisfied yet. If he doesn't make an announcement by this evening though, I'll allow 2 extra days to play the first game (before the end of the day on the 12th)

And I'll keep doing that until the 17th and keep pushing the first game deadline back til as late as the 20th. If Bort doesn't have the friendlies set up by the 20th, then the tournament is dead. Today is the 7th, so we have time, let's be patient.

Hey the longer the delay the better for me, we are boosting late. If it can go during the offseason that would be even better

Same here

I'm still hoping that Bort takes the idea of giving time in the off-season for tournaments, because I think that would be best for everyone.

I dunno. I'm looking forward to having the chance to show the USA Pro League, the Chicago Mustangs what happens when a herd of free-roaming feral horses run into a pack of angry bulldogs.

I think that would be fun, or even having a more "official" Pro Bowl would be cool too. Offering player awards for it and having a offseason Pro Bowl game.
