Yeah I know what you're saying. I have a "speed" DE that is at 32, and he's basically the same as yours but better in specials and physical abilities because of 32 equip... and he's not producing.

It's really hard to create an effective speed DE if you start late. You can do it, just don't expect to see results right away. You have a good deal to catch up relative to your level.

Last season I started off with all my EQ in Agility. Once I switched to speed, about 10 games in, I noticed an immediate improvement in my game. I think I finished with 10 hurries and 6 sacks since I made the switch. Not incredible by any means, but I still made an impact and helped my team.

I'm really talking towards people that have invested a good amount of points in areas not directly necessary for speed builds, like strength.

I know what you mean. When I started the game out I softcapped Strength first, thinking it was the right path. So I kinda fit your catagory.

Any suggestions on how to train with the new training system? I'm guessing most would suggest training Speed on Normal, but would it be worth it to do Speed & Agility on Intense and try to get them to the SC together?

I can see the speed agility and vision starting work. I'm goin against T that are 10+ leveles higher than me but I can already see my DE trying to make the move where he goes outside and cuts inside and if he was closer to the T's level, he would be able to pull it off and have enough speed to get through the hole.

The basic plan for a new DE with the new system probably should be 100% intense. Speed and stamina on intense until stamina is servicable, then switch to speed and agility. Once speed gets high enough to put points into, switch over to agility and stamina or agility and vision, etc. I'll probably rewrite the guide with this approach some time this season.

How is this for a level 25 RE? I usually like to plan my builds out on paper in 8 level increments and estimated that I could have my speed up to 90 with 16 points left over at level 32. I was thinking I should put it either in agility to get it to 60, shed block/tunnel vision to 5-6 respectively, or first step to 7. What do you think would be the best route MikeD?

I'm also working on training up confidence and blocking this season, I know they're pretty low.

I think agility to 60 is going to be your best bet both in the short and long term. After that I would consider getting vision to 48, then working almost exclusively on tunnel vision. As for confidence and blocking, I wouldn't bother. I think you'd be better off training vision and tackling at this point.

He plays very fast, but he struggled to get off the line and beat the OT off the snap. Once I got off the block the QB was mine, but I think I could get more sacks if I get off the line faster. Is that more agility needed? More speed/vision?

I would put all SP and equip points in speed, assuming those are your numbers including equipment. Getting off the line fast is effected by a lot of different things. With the way that OT pathing works now, it's less important than it was a season ago or so. First step, tunnel vision, agility and speed are the obvious main factors. Once you get your speed up into the mid 80s with equipment, I'd bring agility up to 60 and then vision to 48. Then start working tunnel vision.

First Step is 6 and Tunnel Vision is 5. I was a non factor in the game today. 1 tackle. I couldnt get off the OT. do you suggest playing combo or evasive pass rusher

unless you are facing an OT that are lvl <10 which combo would be better

I've never played anything except evasive since the settings came out.

Ok, I'm going post some plays from my game today, so you can see what I mean about not getting off blocks...

Interesting question for a lvl 14 slow build. Intense train on vision/confidence or vision/jumping?

I've never felt that confidence is hugely important. It always seemed to me that if you're building your player well, confidence won't be a big deal whereas if you're building your player badly then it will be.

Yeah, but there aren't many options for me to choose from. Would be nice if there was vision/stamina or vision/tackling, but there isn't.
